Has anybody tried doing that? I wish to send it to my cousin but I fear the customs will charge "bhansar". Any suggestions?

i think its a bad idea. PS3 is pretty heavy. Either you can try to hide it in the luggage and expect it to survive the journey or carry in which case you might end up paying customs.
Pheri sending PS3 cds would be pain in the ass.
Rather if you want to send him one, find a Asian version either in HKG or china that will have a modded chip to play all the games.

I have taken ps1 then ps2 and then ps3 at different times. none of the time i had to pay anything. Only the thing was that i did not take the box and the plastic wraps that came with it, Just to show that it was my own used personal stuff.

I don't think there will be any issues regarding the Customs in Nepal

But.. Don't you think sending PS3 will be the bad idea.. as Nepal won't have the required infrastructure for its operation??

I mean to say that it will be pain to upgrade the software, CD'z will be expensive, even though here in US we cannot afford buying it, HDMI system.. hard to find it in Nepal.. if found one it will be expensive..

PS3 is not meant to play in the standard TV, I tried but its really really boring, Can't be done though.. Blue ray movies won't have the quality as compared to US, but no use without HDTV..

i have seen that HDTV has also entered Nepalese Market somewhere in the website a mth ago.. But its still out of reach in the Nepalese Community..

Make some consideration for these points Instead of sending the PS3.. rather send PSP coz there is no lights most of the time in Nepal, and he would enjoy PSP rather than the PS3

the main why ps3 is a bad idea is because you can't modd ps3. you actually have to have legal copy of any games to play on it for which you have to pay $$. and if you want to use ps3 for other purpose then it pretty much defeats the purpose.

Yes the games for the PS3 is different from PS2.. the games of PS3 is based on the BlueRay.. but PS2 is not.. before when PS3 first came out.. the consoles were backward compatable.. i think it was only 40GB version that was compactable with PS2 discs, but still had some problem with the reader..

the PS3 you get in the market these days are not backward compactable.. it only supports PS3 CDs..

If you can afford the HDMI, HDTV, BlueRay Movies and PS3 games with some WiFi in Nepal, then you can send PS3 to Nepal.. Else just keep it to yourself..

Just my Thought..
