Hello guys, I will be done with my associates in Pre Engineering this spring and planning to transfer to Louisiana Tech from this fall. Can any one give me some insight about this university? Is it worth transferring over there? I am intending to do Bachelors in Civil Engineering. How is civil engineering program over there? Is there any chance of getting internship? and how about chances of getting on campus or off campus job? Please guys help me out on this. Thanks.

i don't think louisiana tech is a good college brother. there are more than 200 nepalese. and 50 percent of them are unemployed just depend on summer going to OC or CO. due to longer history of nepalese.. doing certain wrong things.. people there sees nepalese and indians with eyes of hatred... internship.. u gotta be kiddin bro.. which company would come to such a village.. the last career fair, there were no companies hiring international students...

Thanks Mr. D for a little insight. I am also skeptic about choosing LaTech, but since the fee is affordable, I have to keep it as an option. Any ways do you happen to know any other affordable university for civil engineering. I have an associate degree in pre engineering and my GPA is 3.2. Do you think I can get scholarship in any decent university. I am just scratching a surface right now so please dont judge my question.

i am not exactly sure which college is good for civil engineering but as we all are studying from the job perspective view, universities in cities like dallas, houston should be a lot of better. UTA shouldn't be that expensive as i heard their students getting lots of internships and jobs. also while on campus, you can get the job off campus

ut the girls in LATECH seems to be doing pretty good coz they can get on campus jobs easily in the catering or cafeteria and also the since most of them are studying medi-tech or medical, they also dont seems to have trouble getting the internship in nearby hosptials.

Ya I've already applied for UTA. But over there if you dont have a GPA over 3.5 its hard to get a scholarship. Its expensive if you dont have a scholarship. I'm really tired of searching for schools right now. Cant think where to go.

I think you need to head north for a engineering college. the thing is you can get your engineering from any college but what matters is job after getting a degree. in south, there aren't much company to recruit international student. this is from my personal experience. Texas is a good state to be in if you want to civil engineering. Minnesota is another. if you are just starting to look for a college, search for universities that offers in-state tuition fee, states where most fortune 500 companies reside. write email to international student of each and every universities and ask them questions, i am sure they will be happy to help you with your questions. good luck.
