Hi guys

I need your help very badly.

I want to go home during fall semester ( taking a semester off). BUt when i told my advisor about it, then he sayd that its not possible. And if i go then i need to re-appy for visa and re-admisson process. I know its possible to go home. I just dont understand why he said these stuffs Probably coz he is a new advisor. Can you guys suggest me any words that i can talk with my advisor so that i can go home.  I also found that if we stay out of the country for 5 months then only we need to re-apply for admission and stuffs.

My visa has not expired.

I can only afford to go home taking a semester of.

Help me.

If you go home after a semester break, you will be out of status, so
you will need to get a new i20, pay the new SEVIS fee of $200, apply
for the visa again, and pay the money for the visa again. Your current
visa does not matter, but it might help you look more credible in the
embassy.

The 5 month thing doesn't count.

commando

thank you again. You said you had done it before. So, did you have re-apply for visa? Is it that serious?

Considering me as you fellow friend, would you suggest me visiting Nepal under this circumstances and scene?

Thank you again.

Pls help.

hi herealone,

i had to reapply for my visa. i had talked to my college officials, and they told me that if i stay for the semester then my old i20 would no longer be valid as i wouldn't be taking any classes and hence would be out of status.

if you didnt have any fake documents, and meet their "requirements" (financial aid or ability to afford your expenses, academics, blah blah blah) you might not need to worry. it might be to your advantage that you have already been to the US and you'd also have the visa on your passport when you go there with your new i20. they did not ask me any questions, but i had not paid the sevis fee, because i thought that sevis was just for my identification in the US so i did not need to get a new one. (and my college officials hadnt told me anything about this fee). But, the  interviewer asked me for my SEVIS payment receipt, I gave her the older one, and she said that it wasn't valid. However, SEVIS is an immigration thing, and in many countries you do not need to pay SEVIS fee  before the visa interview (except in Nepal, and some other countries). so she gave me the visa, and asked me to get SEVIS sorted asap.

i think they would have to find a very good reason to deny you a visa because you are in the middle of your studies here, and rejecting you would basically mean kinda fuc-ing you up. so if all your documents are fine, you should not worry.

good luck herealone.
