You have to browse, most tax software let you free federal tax e-file. If you have to file state tax, try to find one with less fees. All it depends how complex your filing is? For simple tax filing I will suggest TAXACT.COM, less than 13 dollars.

Hi all, It seems that I made a mistake filing through Turbo tax last year. Is there a way to correct that? Thanx.

Dhaaka Topi, For Federal filing, yes there is a way to correct the mistake (I dont know about state filings). You'll need to fill out form 1040x (Amended U.S. Individual Income Tax Return). I am not sure if any of the online tax preparing software will let you fill 1040x. So you will most probably have to do this manually (read the instructions, it is fairly easy I did it myself once) or via HRBlock or something like that.

If you file your tax through turbo tax last time and have a problem. File again that last year tax with H&R Block. Gud luck.

I will suggest everyone should try at least two different tax software to check for the refund. Turbo tax is expensive than others but you do not need to register to check your $ amount of refund or tax liability. I liked the TAXACT.COM which is almost similar to Turbo but you have to register first. To file Federal and state will cost you 12.99-13.99, compare with turbo (over 30). If you do not need to file state , check for free efiling software. There are dozen in the market, you may qualify for free. You should have given a little detail not revealing your privacy, why you are getting more, now ? What did you do differently? That will help us to pin point the remedy otherwise it may be as ' टाउकोको दबाइ नाइटामा लगाइ " You can amend your state as well federal taxes. If you want to amend your taxes (both) , it is better to go the same software and choose to amend ( we need past data to compare with amending). It will guide you through. Your amended tax filing should be paper file. You cannot re-efile once you efile is accepted and you got or paid the monies. Meet me, I will show you how to do it? Kidding.
