Your analogy of the Maoist violence to a Colorado wildfire is very apt. And as we all saw this summer, getting one wildfire under control doesn't necessarily mean another one wont start. As long as people are discontent with status quo, its very easy for a group of radicals to start another fire in the name of yet another failed ideology.

You missed the main point of Bhupi Sherchan Paramendra. Asking people to take radical step (like dying) is much easier than asking people to Vote. That is why Maoist failed and always will fail because they have no agenda for the people. That is why they lost their election deposit when they tried, and they will loose again. Because they have nothing to offe and people know that.

Also, I am utterly disappointed on your sort of approval of Maoist 'so called agenda' . Trying to show that they work for the people is their disguise don't you understand and any sane person trying to support Maoist is simply fire fighter lady who started the Colorado fire.

If they are sincere then why can't they die in a hunger strike in front of parliament? Why Babu Ram and Pranchanda take the step of non-violence. Because that is much difficult and he does not know how to motivate poeple on that. He can only threaten people to come to attack the Bank in kill innocent people because that is either looting the money or fun to do and giving them false hope of equality etc.....

If you read any manifesto of any polical party of World you think that they will do great humanity for their people so do you want to approve all of them, even though they might kill people to make their points?

BRB sends his daughter to England to study (whom he calls facist, ironically) and gives a Gun and Khukuri to innocent peasants daughter and rapes them, how do you even utter a sense of support to him?

I think you owe to withdraw the columns you have posted in the Sajha ASAP.

As much as I liked your past columns and I have been admirer of your posting, you completely disappointed me on this.

Before I forget....

Your posting has another irony. You start with giving a big gali to the Prince who in total might have kiled handful (may be not so innocent people, who knows) and you start with sympathy to the Maoist who have killed thousands of innocent people.

Do you just post things what comes in your mind at the tiime of posting or do you analyze and you have conviction about what you post?

You look like sympathising with all those people who will beat their children, wives, servants in the name of being a savior of them?

. totally disgusting .

. first off, royal massacre is still a MYSTERY confined in the ROYAL pillars and the author in here seems to have found the culprit . how?

. its utterly dissappointing to find that the author actually had to look for a reason to have a feeling of despise over MAOIST.

. next time: please post what the FACTS are not what u've conceived as FACTS .

What do you mean when you say, "Too few people in the country have too much of the wealth. That has to be changed, radically if need be"? When you use the word "radically", are you implying that we should take a Robin-Hood-like step and rob the rich and give money to the poor? Suppose you have a man, who is poor not because of fate, but because he is lazy. Also suppose you have another man who, because of his hard-working nature, has accumulated wealth. Tell me, should the rich man be forced to share his money with the lazy man who sits outside all day doing nothing?
Also think of this scenario. Suppose 50 years have passed, and the rich man, who is dead by now, has 5 sons, all rich, not because they are hardworking, but because they inherited their wealth from their very wealthy father. Do these people deserve to be robbed too?

And who'll really suffer when we divide wealth like that? Not the bahuns; not the chettris; not the Janajatis; but the Marwaris and Newars. Is that what we really want?

Paramendra Bhagat says the killing-part is what he does not like about the Maoists...as if he was the propounder of this theory. i guess no body likes killings here mr bhagat, save the maoists themselves. maoists lose everyone at the same part--when they abduct, and kill even the people who have surrendered. You are saying as if you are the only person to despise that.

Overall, this article looks like a combination of ramdom thoughts than a combination of well thought/analyzed, consistent and evidence-asserted claims/ideas .

cheers,

Paramendra,

I liked this piece much better than your first one on this column. Being familiar with your sharpness and frankness, there is nothing in it that surprises me. I can relate to your woe, dream and frustration about our ruining country. And yes, Maobadis also lose me exactly where they lose you. I can add one or two things more. But I have started to wonder, looking at the ever growing influence of Maobadi, from Jhupadis of remote places to the gallis of rajdhani, whether that is mattering anymore. Since it is clear by now that Maobadis can not be written off in Nepal, which is a bad news, but they are reiterating that their war, at least for now, is for establishing our democracy (Bourgeois democracy) but not a communist state as apprehended, which is a good news, I wonder whether time has come to think of a political lenden with Maobadi. Or we can still rely on the bahaduri of the Royal Nepal Army, the power of the Emergency, the goodwill of our international friends and the sacrifice and endurance of Nepali people to save the king.

I think if we are upto extinguishing the Colorado fire of our home before it leaves nothing to save, it will be much helpful if we started to think, even as a pure intellectual exercise for now, whether Maobadi too lose us at certain things ? Where do Maobadis lose us, then ?

You talked about getting rid of the monarchy through parliamentary action. I am sure Maobadis have read our constitution which says the monarchy is unalterable. So is it not exactly where Maobadi lose us ?

I don't care what happens to Maobadi. I don't care what happens to the crown. They are not in my dream. In my dream is, like you have, someday my country will have a Podini didi as our president and, in addition, myself as a Mayor of my municipality occasionally doing video conference with Paschim, then Mayor of Gorkha Bazar, to discuss about some co-projects to develop our municipalities.

A bow of respect to Paramendra ji, you have got some angle to see things. The colums is beautifully analysed. Well, I don't wanna jump to conclusion blaming Maobadi or Monarchy but whatever is happening that is not right and should be corrected. Could we for once now stop blaming people and do our best what is in our hands. Being abroad I might not be able to judge situation back home but from what we have been hearing it looks like where there is inclination of voilence, there is an Attempt too. An attempt to better the situation. After Decades I have seen some ( no matter it is minimal) effort from government to reduce corruption. Couldn't it be start??? couldn't we stop saying congress and communist for while and support and believe on what seems to be going on right track??? .........One thing for sure is that because of hundred betryal we should not give up trust. Just hope and help.... that is my message to all Nepalese.

Mr. Bhagat,
There was no need for disrespecting the deceased calling them names. And I could see why you would of course would like to have a Madhisey leader in power to further empower your peoples. When you said that... all your democracy, your self-rightiousness, equal rights gets flushed right down the toilet. Makes it no different than the ones that actually are in power.
Politicians are dirty everywhere.. be it Nepal(in your face), India(disguisedlike bofors), or US(soft money). I have yet to see an honest Politician get elected without the mudslinging, lying or cheating. And your desire to be a politician... and the statement that you just made on your article makes you no different than any of those corrupt, ambtious, and media hogging idiots that are actually running this world. You being politically correct would be like KKK denouncing racism. Because of your aspirations to be a Politician makes me doubt your honesty especially when you make statement like above.

Paramendra,
I still believe the prince didn't do the job he is blamed for. Since you knew him better being at the same school/class, you may be right. We sure heard some of his bad habits since his childhood, so who knows? he might have done it. I get a kick to rethink (about all the theories of who really did it) again when an independent/frank writer as you say so.

On another note, why don't you enlighten about this new prince who also went to the same school as you did, if not the same class/section. Unfortunately I haven't heard any good things about him yet. May be he is not that bad, eh? Or should i wait for his death for that to happen?
