I am thinking of getting a mathematical finance degree. Just wondering if any of you are working on this field. I have heard the pay is pretty good, but wanted to know a little more about the nature of this job. Is it really stressful in terms of deadlines, work-load etc? and what skills will be helpful besides the usual coure-work? i mean programming..statisitcs..etc etc?

A person with a major in mathematical finance can work in several fields, including but not limited to IB, Finance, Consulting, Actuarial Science among others. So, I guess the requirement may vary depending on what the job responsibilities include.

If I were you, I would grab a couple of programming classes, some advanced probability and statistics courses, besides your regular courses. Also, it always helps to have an (summer) internship.
