Dear Sajha Experts,
Here is my problem,
My computer's mother board crashed. So, I tried to boot another computer from same hard disk (as a MASTER) of old one. But I couldn't. Now I'm using the hard as SLAVE. But the problem here is I couldn't open my files in the folders like "MY DOCUMENTS", "MY MUSIC" AND "MY VIDEOS". It was obvious, for I had my password there.

So NOW ...dear Sajha users, please help me out to get out of this problem. Almost all of my important files are inside those folders.

The thing that I couldn't boot the computer directly with that hard disk is ...the mother-board is different in old one and new one.

Help me out!!!

Shouldn't be that difficult.

If you are logged in as an administrator on a machine which runs your HDD as a slave, I don't see any reasons why shouldn't you be able to get an access to your old documents. Are you looking in the right places ? You know My Documents in your old machine are not My Documents in this machine, right ?

Did you try to get the access of your documents from F: ( or whatever is your slave HDD)\Documents and Settings\YourOldUserName\My Documents ?

Can you see the folder which you can't open in the first place ?

I still think that as an administrator you are allowed to alter the security option for that particular folder if you are using Windows built in function. Just right click on the folder and check the security tab in properties dialogue box . Give access to all users for a time being and check, maybe it will work. You have to be logged in as an administrator to run this process.

If it doesn't work then create the user with same password as in previous machine and try to open the folder, sometime the Windows can be fooled.

If you had used 3rd party encrypting software, then you have to install that again.

This is kinda interesting ( sorry ), so please let us know how things go.

BTW did you use the proper data cable and the jumper while trying to run your disc as a master ?
