About a week ago I raised this same question with a thread titled "Who can lead Nepal?" but failed to receive any response from visitors of Sajha. I guess, we were not very convinced that Mr. Koirala is going to die this soon. But, in his speech today, he seemed really sick and he sounded as if he was convinced he is going to die soon. Thus the question arises Who will lead Nepal if Mr. Koirala passes away suddenly (which may not be that sudden now as all are aware of his health)? Who do you think is the leader who is capable enough to lead Nepal's crises to a logical end if we have to face a challenge to select a leader to lead in case of Girija's unfortunate demise? Girija is seriously ill and the recent cover story in Nepal magazine agrees with this fact? We may wake up one morning learling we have the Octorian leader no more. Thus, the time has come to discuss the options we have and choices we can make? The discussion is open to the floor and lets see if we can come with a choice we all can agree upon? The intention of this discussion is not to creat a crises or misunderstanding but to explore the choices before the crises is in our backyard.

There is only one political leader that comes to my mind who I believe is somewhat capable of leading the country in case of Mr. Koirala demise. He is someone who is in Nepali Congress (Democratic) but has always remain above party politics, he is respected in his party and my members of other parties, I don't remember he ever being accussed of corruptions, he has always favoured democracy and multiparty system and considered to be a philospher and think tank of Nepali politics. He is Mr. Pradeep Giri. The only thing that goes against him is, we can't be sure how good of a Leader he is because his leadership qualities has never been tested. He has never been in such position before and we can't be sure if he is actually capable of doing what is expected of him currently as it is one thing to be in opposition and other to be in power. But, I can't think of anyone better than Mr. Pradeep Giri, as there is first time for everything.

Sorry to say do not know anything about P. Giri. However, I feel MAOISTS terrorists are waiting for that moment! They are waiting like HYENAS & VULTURES to see GP pass away and TAKE CONTROL IN THEIR BLOODY HANDS. WHETHER WE LIKE maoists OR NOT they WILL FORCE UPON US their chosen one, for example Prachanda...do not know about etc... IT WILL BE ONE SAD DAY INDEED IF GP IS NO MORE, BECAUSE UNDER CURRENT CIRCUMSTANCES HE IS SHOWING SIGNS OF STRENGTH TO CONTROL/CHECK MAOISTS TERRORISTS. Even though I am anti-GP, Let us wish long-life for GP.

Three years back , Girija was one of the most hated leaders of Nepal. Now all of a sudden he became a hero. Girija got chance to write name in history of Nepal and i think he regrets all his bad deeds. But Whether he would be remembered as the one who disintegrated the country made by PN Shah or the one who brought democracy in Nepal is yet to see. Anyways, coming back to the topic ..Prachanda is praying the death of Girija.May be since there is communist majority in parliament some commie is going to PM .The PM would be new GOD for Nepal. As for Pradeep Giri.. nice person -- cannot just do it. who is going to lead formerly known as Nepal - Mr Prachanda - The God of New Maopal

. PARCHANDA became popular in ten years. He will disappear in 2 years. Talking and doing is different. He said that he wants to make Nepal like Switzerland. We all know that Switzerland was not made by Moabaadis. It was made by hard working Swiss people.

I don't think Prachanda, Baburam or Madhav Kumar Nepal will be able to be Prime Minister in current situation because of the geo-political situation of Nepal as India, USA and Europe Union will never accept them as the Head of Government and Head of State (As per the interim constitution PM is currently Super Powerful). Those friendly and neighbouring countries may be forced to accept them if they win the election but not under current situation.

Girija has his own personality. But political scenario seen ever since last couple of months in the country, he is also a rubber stamp. Why not another rubber stamp like Sher bahadur Deuba whom all India, USA, Japan and other donar countries accept cordially? Finally, let constituent assembly decide the fate of the country.
