70 houses looted
Sarlahi, 1 Nov: Armed dacoits looted cash and valuables worth over 1.4 million rupees from 70 houses of wards 6, 7, 8 and 9 of Padariya VDC in the district Sunday night, The Kathmandu Post reports. According to victims, a group of around 35 dacoits carried robbed houses at gunpoint for three hours from 11 pm.

The dacoits made off with the cash and valuables that locals had saved for celebrating the Tihar and Chhath festivals. A state of terror has gripped the area.

Locals also said the dacoits shared out the looted cash and goods among themselves on the banks of the nearby Lakhandehi River after the incident. They also recovered a fake pistol, some axes, hammers and other goods from the place on Monday morning.
