Marijuana Party is a valid registered political party in Canada.
Though none of its candidates won, its candidates took part as candidates of Marijuana Party of Canada in federal election in June 2004.

Though I'm not an advocate of pot. Doesn't it underscore the Canada's radical departure from track taken by its southern neighbor ?

Because US is indifferent to Canada, this poor peculiar country always wants to show something to prove its existence. If you're a boy and want to marry a boy then welcome to Canada. So also for girls. But, alas! even though a mouse looks alike an elephant, a mouse is a mouse after all.

i totally agree with pagal..canada is doing anything to show that its different form USA, even if that means defying even the basic principles of the society..like allowing gay marriage, drugs..and distributing citizens to convicted criminals..(remember the case where some punjabi terrorist from india were giving protection in canada.)...i pity canada and its leaders..
