From another thread, there was mention of a Nepali joining the United States Army. How foolish are their parents to allow their son to join a foreign army? I know of two other Nepal boys in the U.S. Army. My question is why? Parents work so hard to bring them over to U.S. for more opportunities. Instead, they join the Army to waste a few years in their life or even end their life. There is so much discrimination against foreigner within the army itself. Why join? I can?t understand it. And it is not about discipline or adventure. Good luck in Iraq. Most likely they will be placed in the front lines like blacks and latinos.

May be it was their own choice. Some people have 'army' running in their blood and want to be around weapons and action. Maybe playing too many war Videogames have something to do with it also. And since you are in the US, you have freedom to do whatever the hell you want, parents can't do much if you are joining the army due to pure passion. Personally I wouldn't.

when you cant afford to go to college, or you are just compltely lost within yourself(not disciplaned at all) and if there is seems to be an oppurtunity to find your self( to be diciplaned) and go to college, and dont worry abt soo many financial issues, WHY NOT GO? and on a second note, its there choice, why are you so bothered about it. Has it affected you somehow? parents arent dictators, sometimes they need to let their children do what they want.

?Why not go? ? because there is very high chance of getting killed or captured then tortured. If their parents truly cared, they would do everything in their power to stop their child. True, it is ultimately their choice?.but here the fault lies in advertisement Every High School has Army recruiters who come in and dupes high school seniors. They say all the good things about joining and nothing bad?they are so nice and sympathetic. They call your house and talk to you about all the benefits. Once you sign that paper, they could give a rat?s ass about you. You call them and now all of the sudden they don?t have time for you. I know this from a personally Non-Nepali friend. ?Financial situation? ? Get full-time job and save up for college in two years?or be an RA?get a full time job while in school (plenty of nepalis to do). It doesn't affect me. I just don't want to hear anything bad happen on the headline news.
