We have so many proclaimed spiritual gurus in India and some in Nepal now a days. However, if you look at any book from the Ramayan to the Mahabharat, the great sages or ऋषि मुनि , they all lived at the foothills of the Himalayas. It makes me wonder if spirituality is actually a location, and the Himalayas are pretty peaceful place. Obviously, the people who lived there would also naturally find peace.

When you put a seed inside soil, what are the chances that the seed will grow into a big plant? You cannot answer this questions with 100% certainty that the seed will grow into a big plant. Though seed is the primary cause for the birth of a plant, there are many other cooperating forces in play that will affect the growth of the plant. Fertility of soil, enough rainfall, plant eating animals and bugs etc. are few external forces we will have to take into consideration to figure out whether the seed will grow into a big plant. Similarly, Enlightenment itself is not related to time and location. When there is darkness, only light can remove the darkness. Knowledge alone will remove the ignorance within us. However, gaining this knowledge requires immense Tapasya. Practicing yoga and meditation becomes easy when there is less noise and nice weather. Time and location are cooperating factors, not the cause for enlightenment. If location was the cause for Enlightenment, everybody living in Bodh Gaya would have been a Gyani. But, it is not so. Solitude and renunciation are two important cooperating factors if one really wants to achieve the pinnacle of yoga. If you keep seeing beautiful ladies wearing tight yoga pants, will you be able to put your mind into meditation? What are the chances you see ladies with yoga pants in the Himalayas? Yogis also figured out that food directly affects their mind and body. Hence, they eat only Sattvic food.
