If this bill becomes a law....how will desi consulting firms make money? They'll all be dead.(no margin unless the new billing rate is more than @100 per hour for every consultant - which I think is needed because IT consulting industry wage hasn't gone up in more than 10 years while inflation, you know).....so good luck whatever the result

I got my H1B with annual salary of $48,000 from a company owned/run by a white American.
I graduated in Computer Science from a college here in USA.

This is right approach, every IT guy is getting approx of that pay if he is working for direct company. It will wipe out contracting shi* and bring IT industry in order.

The only thing is students , they have to create some sort of exception for US graduated students. Can't expect them to make 130k right out of school or send them back home right out of school. Also they need find way to get rid of this fake resume crap, encourage them to study hard learn coding hard way and take entry level job, and make their way up.

On top of this they have to make proper inspection that freaking desi companies are not showing pay in paper only, and if they found it fine them like half million $$ , per violation .

Ho yo Dhoti Consultancy haru le chusnu chuseko chhan...yiniharulai hataunai parchha...but like @meraj said, US graduated students haruko laagi chai kei policy lyaunai parchha.....

I so much agree what @meraj mentioned: "they need to find way to get rid of this fake resume crap, encourage them to study hard learn coding hard way and take entry level job, and make their way up."

To the new graduates as well as college students especially in math and science...be brave and find new industry like law, finance and I don't know what else but whatever industry you choose make sure it is going to stay forever and pays a lot of money. You guys can do it. Since you're all math wizards. IT is only one of the options to live a wonderful life in America!

For sure h1b situation is far below perfect and prone to abuses by consultancies. Back when i got my h1b they used to run out of 60000 application limit meant for entire year, in only 2 or 3 days because the indian companies would apply in mass of thousands of application on the very first day the application period. And of course there is this epic of faking resumes.
But still who in right mind will pay 130k to a foreigner just coming out of college?

Its so heart breaking to see how the trump effect has effected the Nepalese people living in US. "You have it and you don't want other to have it". you have become the elite, so fuck other people. This very attitude had lead our country Nepal to be still one of the third world country.
I do not know your stories, but I came here as an F1 and started my journey in IT field. It was hard and I know the pain of not having job. Restless night and all those painful job hunts. Then there came the IT company, who gave me my first gig. I do not blame the IT company for it, especially those Indian companies. They trained me and trained me well, they guided me and I am happy where I am.
Most of you might have made your way through here through DV or through Asylum or may be started your career from entry level after graduating from University. All of them are good. Do not forget, this is a land of opportunity and every one who comes here has their right to be where you are now if that is what their dream is. No matter what means one takes to reach the goal, we should always focus on the end, not the means to the end.
This will definitely impact lot of Nepalese worker if passed and I hope they have some clause to protect those fresh graduates working for small IT companies.

I'm really not understanding what's up with this bill. Nepalese here seems to be happy that this bill is very good since it is going to crack desi consultancies. But what about other regular H1B visas ? How can this bill be good for Nepalese? Am I missing something here?

Its good for the ones who do not need H1b ...but it could be good for someone who does not need sponsorship. This will turn the focus of H1B shops into non sponsoring candidates as they definitely cannot compete with high wages preference for the approvals of H1B.
