The official Kensington Palace account on Instagram is looking pretty exotic at the moment with pictures from Prince Harry’s official tour of Nepal.

Thanks to @kensingtonroyal, we too can enjoy photographs of beautiful mountain ranges and Harry being daubed with bright red paint as part of Holi, a Hindu festival “also known as the festival of colours…for obvious reasons” the caption explains.

The hashtag #HarryInNepal has been used on pictures of the 31-year-old royal enjoying the scene from a remote village in the Himalayas and emerging from the Golden Temple in Kathmandu. But our favorite ‘gram is probably that of a beautiful dog basking in the sunshine on a mountaintop, accompanied by Harry’s explanation, “Found a friend surveying his kingdom! Who can blame him—what a view! He barked ALL night outside our homestay and kept me awake, but we moved past that!”

Also coming up tops in the cuteness category is a snap of Harry—uncle to 2-year-old Prince George and 10-month-old Princess Charlotte—holding a baby in the village of Leorani, where he is helping to rebuild a school that was damaged in the 2015 earthquake that killed nearly 9,000 people.

Kensington Palace writes, “[Harry] wanted to share some of his favourite photos from Leorani village in west Nepal, where he stayed overnight with a local family. For a couple of these he has provided captions in his own words….this one, though, speaks for itself! Hope you enjoy his photos — thanks for all the lovely comments over the last few days.”

But Harry’s tour wasn’t just about posting adorable pictures, as evidenced by his impassioned speech on the subject of women’s rights at the Nepal Girl Summit 2016 in Kathmandu.

“We need to acknowledge that so many countries and cultures are failing to protect the opportunities of young women and girls in the way they do for boys,” he said.

Referencing the lack of opportunity for women caused by child marriage, he went on, “Here in Nepal, nearly half of all women who are today in their twenties, thirties, and forties were married before their 18th birthdays, and a little under half gave birth while still in their teens.

“It may be obvious to say it, but girls who marry young stay at home. They don’t finish school. And they soon become locked in a cycle of illiteracy, poverty, ill health and, ultimately, powerlessness.”

The prince stated his belief that “[w]e won’t unlock these opportunities for young women and girls unless we can change the mindset of every family and community. To achieve this, it cannot just be women who speak up for girls.”

Harry has now returned home to Britain since his tour of Nepal. But he’s been left with a slightly more permanent reminder of his trip than he might have hoped for: a small abrasion on his forehead, caused by one of the smears of red powder (called a tika) that he was decorated with during his visit.

Harry joked, “I have rarely in my life felt as welcomed as I have over the last few days. If anything I may have been a bit too welcome—this tika is here to stay!”
