My question is:
Does the IBM Storwize V7000 support SNMP polling (snmpget) and if so how do I configure polling access from a specific IP address / community string ?. Or does it only support SNMP trap notifications to be sent to an external network management system.

It makes sense to ask any questions as no question is an idiot question. But again, it makes sense to ask right question. From your post this and others it appears you have not done your research enough before asking several questions. You seems to have little impatience reading the matericals or searching in google. But do not worry, everyone goes through it when they are novice. And persoanlly, I think I was more impatience and ignorant than you back then. May be still I am.
Having said that, I would check the manuals of that system on how to configure the SNMP on that system. Whatever you work on, basics or fundamentals always helps. So find out what address and ports it is listening on for SNMP, make sure you have the port open between your client and the system to read SNMP data, and read manual about how to do snmpwalk or snmpget. The most important thing is make sure of yourself what you are doing and why you are doing this. Learning the commands, syntaxes wont help you at all.
