How are things worked for migrating to australia? How long it will take for the process for do it yourself?
Anyone has done that?

Australia is skills based migration and it depends on the points you get for that. If your job is in top demand, then some people have got it in a year also. But this all depends. Employer based where employer files for your PR is even faster taking only few months. Mostly people go there using 457 working visa.
