I was just wondering. Since every house in Kathmandu or Nepal for the matter uses bore well water, does it not make the land unstable and prone to collapse?. Real estate companies even proclaim 24 hour water supply using such a system. Is this even legal or are people bending the rules?. How much of the 24 hour water supply is true?.

The florida sinkhole incident that happened recently comes to mind. I know sinkholes are created in a different way. But still, even though the water does go back to the ground eventually, should not the Nepal government make this illegal?. Correct me if i am wrong. Should an earthquake happen, i think this will make it worse.

Yes that is right. I was also thinking since those real estate companies provide 24 hour water supply using bore water within their area, if that is feasible then why doesnt the Nepal government provide 24 hour water supply using bore water also.

I also wanted to know if a study has been done regarding potential danger of same. I find it hard to believe that real estate companies can provide 24 hour water supply using bore water and having their own treatment plant.

But you are right hard to make it illegal.

 rather than letting the untreated dirty water to go to rivers, it would be environmentally friendly to treat the waster water and use it again like the way they do here in the US so that we would not be pumping so much water from under the ground. some years ago it wasnt a big problem but now almost everyone is dependent upon the ground water system. aba paani nai na aaye pachhi bachna ta paryo ni.
kathmandu ma sewer ko system chha tara untrated sewer is directly mixed in the rivers.

its just a matter of time, i am sure the over pumping of water will have some negetive effect.
