I am thinking of getting rid off cable tv and  home phone substituting with HULU Plus & magic jack. No one calls home phone other than commercial and credit card calls. Xfinity is offering internet servce for 19.99/month for a year.

 i have had no cable for a year now. i have netflix and watch most new shows like walking dea online. i have a hd antenna that gets all the local cbs nbc fox stuff. the only thing i miss is sports.

Sports is the only reason why I'm still subscribed to Cable. If you're not into sports, there's no need to subscribe to cable. Home phones is redundant. For telemarketing calls, you might wanna register on https://www.donotcall.gov/. 

On a different note, how good is Huluplus compared to Netflix? 

 I tried Hulu plus but it still plays ads so i cancelled it.

Very happy with just Netflix here. The others are just not as good. It would have been better if Netflix had a database of all the movies they have rather than requiring us to search for it.
Yeah home phones are indeed redundant.
