Trigger Happy Cops!

Once again, we read about someone getting shot by the police, and it's time to question our trigger-happy cops on why they have to resort to shooting people, be it during protests or some clashes over loud music.

Our opposition wallahs want the PM and the Home Minister to resign over the Sunsari incident where two groups of folks clashed with each other late evening over loud music. I guess they were fighting with each other, and the cops showed up, and when it got too hot to handle, our security personnel once again decided to fire live ammunition and kill one and injure a few.

I don't know the whole story, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the APF wallahs who decided to shoot some folks. Over the past two decades, it seems that the APF folks are more than happy to shoot at protestors or someone when they can't control the crowd.

It was a different story during the Gen Z protests when our Nepal Police wallahs decided to shoot like crazed assassins firing at young kids. But where on Earth do you think you can get away with killing protestors? I guess only in this land. We have yet to punish those who pulled the trigger on those kids last year.

I think this government should really look into this and ban all live ammunition and firing from now onwards. Some of us look at the Indian protests, and we have seen police brutality there as well, and even the use of pellet guns and whatnot, but we did not get to witness loss of lives from real bullets. I think our security personnel really need to look themselves in the mirror and either start working on how to manage the crowd with less lethal force or maybe quit their jobs and stay home.

We have seen protests all over the world, but maybe our cops do not watch YouTube or social media or even learn a thing or two from all that training they have undergone on how to restraint yourself and not resort to firing live rounds every time they can't handle the pressure.

Maybe our security folks need better training, or maybe our field commanders just take things lightly and do not send adequate reinforcements to prevent such mishaps. If this government does not punish trigger-happy cops and overhaul the crowd control methods, then there will be much bigger incidents in the future, and there will be more masala for the opposition wallahs to add fuel to the fire.

And the APF wallahs need to stop carrying their guns to any protests because it seems that one scared APF person is always ready to fire on the crowd to either save his or her life or just think that's the easiest way to control the crowd.

We cannot allow such shootings to happen again, and if this government is not serious about changing the way our security personnel handle such incidents, then sooner or later there will be a much bigger incident and could cause this government to lose its face and be like the same old ones whom we voted out of power for a new one, hoping changes from the same old rotten system.

I know this government is not corrupt, but most of the hakims are. I know this government does not want to kill the people, but we still have psychopaths in uniforms. At the end of the day, most governments in our land have fallen not due to inflation, corruption, and frustration but due to mass killings by those who have taken the oath to protect and serve the public.

Let this incident be a lesson for our current government and our Home Minister as well. I hope they will learn a thing or two from this incident and be much more prepared to not allow trigger-happy cops on the streets, but instruct our cops to use maximum restraint and non-lethal means and send in reinforcements when needed to prevent such clashes from going out of hand.
