Dear Nepali Community Members & Friends of Nepal,
Greetings! Namaste!
As you know, the ANS (America Nepal Society) holds a summer picnic every year as one of its annual social events. This year we have had to push the picnic because of the ANA convention, which we worked hard to ensure was a great convention. This year has had a particularly hot summer, but I hope the end of August will have perfect weather for celebrating the Summer Picnic. Please come along, bring your friends and family, and join the fun! We have organized lots of events and activities. Especially for children, we will have face painting, Piñata breaking, running races. There is a volleyball court, a basketball court, a soccer field and children's play area nearby that we can use. We will have a small show with Nepali Dohori Geet and Dancing towards the end the picnic, so please bring your Nepali musical instruments from home. Also, please bring bicycles and roller-blades, as the area is good for cycling and roller-skating. The less adventurous can walk miles along the heavily wooded and tranquil paths of Four Mile Run.
Would Nepali Organizations please bring your banners to hang around the picnic area?
Any individuals, who have contact with returning Peace Corps Volunteers, please extend this invitation to them to come to the
summer picnic. If you have returning Peace Corps volunteers' email addresses, please forward this email message to them. We
would be delighted to have our "half Nepali-American brothers and sisters" join us for the Summer Picnic.
Date for the Picnic: Sunday 25th August 2002
Time: 9 am till 8 pm with food served from 12noon onwards
The ANS will provide barbecue food (please contribute your own soft drinks)
Venue: Bluemont Park, picnic shelter near tennis courts (take RT. 50 East (arlington blvd) make a left on manchester st, continue to manchester upto 4th st. the parking lot is on your right hand side.
