International Nepali Literary Society, Arizona Nevada Chapter (INLS AZNV) is celebrating 96th Birth Anniversary of Nepal?s Poet Laureate Laxmi Prasad Devkota on November 13, 2004 at 2:00 PM at Joaquin Murrieta Park in Tucson, Arizona. You are cordially invited to participate in this great Laxmi Jayanti event at Tucson, Arizona. INLS Tea Party in honor of Devkota Ji will run concurrently with poetry recitals.



Poet Laureate Devkota was born on November 12, 1909 at Kathmandu, Nepal. He passed away at the tender age of 50 on September 14, 1959. Nepali people revere Laxmi Prasad Devkota as a god of Nepalese literature. His writings such as Muna Madan, Shakuntala and Sulochana rank very high in the literary world. There is universal belief that had these works been translated timely into English, we would be celebrating this event as Birthday of a Nobel Laureate. Let us get together and show our respect to this great Nepali Literature Icon.
