Synopsis:

"Through history and throughout different cultures, people who prioritize the quest for inner peace have recorded a very similar vision of how to increase their sense of peace. So we can say there is a common, universal path towards peace. Today, as the wish for peace becomes more urgent, knowledge of the methods of the great historical exemplars becomes more important and valuable. How did Thoreau, Gandhi, or the Buddha pursue inner peace, and what did they have in common that might be applicable for us today? Many of the core answers have been preserved in the practice of Vipassana Meditation as the Buddha taught it and as it is still practiced by some people today. The author and psychiatrist Paul Fleischman, M.D., who has been a teacher and student of Vipassana for more than half his life, will discuss the common universal path of peace, the biographical details of some of its prominent proponents, and the practice of Vipassana as a compass within the tradition."
