United India Association of New England(UIANE) is hosting a health fair on Sunday 6/28/15 from 10am-4pm at the Sheraton Needham Hotel.

The program will include brief educational presentations on the following topics:

Among the vendors, we will have Walgreens do blood pressure and vaccine education,Cotsco and Whole Foods will provide some healthy food samples,Joslin Dietician and Diabetes Educator will do a healthy food recipe demo and BMI readings ,Blood Sugars,Cholesterol,Vision screening,dental cleaning and education,breast health education from Dana Farber,Novo Nordisk,Tufts Health Plan and Harvard Pilgrim Health care giving some insurance plans,possibly orthopedic and urology screenings,financial services and many more that may be added before the event.

We will also have a mobile BLOOD DRIVE van sponsored by Dana Farber and Brigham and Womens Hospital from10-3pm that will collect blood from all those signed up and those who may want to donate blood when they attend the health fair. The drive will benefit patients at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. All the blood collected at the health fair will come back to the hospital. This drive will be especially needed because it will help prepare the hospital’s blood supply to cover patient transfusions throughout the long 4th of July weekend. The blood supply can quickly drop to critical levels during the summer season due to so many people being away on vacation and unavailable to donate, but our patients’ needs remain the same. All blood types are needed at the health fair. If people don’t know what their blood type is, they can call us a few days after the drive and we’ll look it up for them.
