Dear Community members, Namaste! INVITATION TO GRAND DASHAIN & TIHAR MELA ! The America Nepal Society (ANS) is organizing a grand Nepali festival: Dashain and Tihar Mela, on Sunday 12th October 2003. This will be yet another great opportunity for Nepali people and friends of Nepal to meet all our friends and relatives and exchange our greeting wishes to each other and celebrate the great Nepali festivals, Dashain and Tihar. The Mela will definitely help to introduce Nepali art, culture, food and religion for expatriate Nepalese and friends of Nepal. Some of the attractions for this year's Mela are: Nepali cultural show by immerging new talent from our own community and few famous surprises; stalls for sale of Nepali art, crafts, clothing; audio, video, cassette and C.D recordings of music; and a book fair. If you wish to recite your poetry on the Mela please send your poem by October 8, 2003 to: Prem Sangraula (psangraula@yahoo.com) Basant Shrestha (bshrestha@msn.com) The ANS has organized tons of fun for all age groups. For our younger participants we have, face painting, a moon bounce, inflatable slide, popcorn, arts and crafts activities, fire drill by the Fire Department. Also quiz for the younger adolescent group of children. Please bring your children in Nepali outfit and we have special present for all kids who wear Nepali clothes this year. We request to all Nepali people and also to friends of Nepal, to wear a Nepali clothes 'national dress' (if you have one) please come yourself wearing the Nepali outfit on the Mela. Nepali food / snacks will be on sale. This year we have (puri, Jeri, Swari, Aaloo ko Achar / Aaloo Dum) sumptuous Momo, Khasi KO Masu, and variety of vegetarian food. The Dunn Loring Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department Hall is just outside the Capitol Beltway, close to Tyson's Corner. As well as being easy to find, it provides good parking and excellent facilities.
