The police detained four activists of United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) from Jitpur today for defying the curfew order.

The indefinite shutdown called by Federal Limbuwaan State Council (FLSC) has affected nine districts in Terai including Dhankuta, Panchthar and Illam today as well. 

Meanwhile, the indefinite general strike called by United Tharu National Liberation Front (UTNLF) starting today has affected Dang, Banke, Kapilvastu, Bardiya, Kailali, Kanchanpur among other areas.

The UTNLF has launched agitation protesting the UDMF’s demand for an autonomous Madhes state.

Activists of the newly formed front demonstrated in Dhangadi today demanding establishment of a separate Tharuhat State Council in the region.
