Can someone inform me whether one can apply for Canadian immigation from foreign land? The reason why I am asking is mainly to address the processing time. If one apply from Nepal, the letter will go to New Delhi where the processing time is 63 months which is too long. In contrast to this, the processing time in Sydney is only 19 months. Since I will be in Melbourne for 18 months, I was wondering if I shall apply through Sydney. Is this possible? Looking for your suggestions.

Yes you can. Its like for us applying from East coast US and our documents goes to Buffalo office, which takes 12-16 months and where as in Nepal it takes 63 months (like you said). As long as you have a permanant address where you get your mail it doesnot matter

Thank you for your reply. Mike Bibby, as you said "As long as you have a permanant address where you get your mail it doesnot matter ". Does this mean all my correspondence should be done from my permanent address i.e. Nepal or I can receive relevent documents at Melbourne itself? And another thing is...can I apply now from Nepal (as I am in Nepal now) and later ask my processing to be transfered to Austraila as I reach there? Or you suggest me to start the application process from Australia itself?

Why do you want to move from Australia to Canada? Melbourne is a fine city. I would love to live there. What does Canada have that Australia does not, besides an abundance of snow?

Don't keep changing your address. Because you have better chances of loosing your file. You better off applying when you rech Australia. because of long waiting line from Canadian embassy in India. Hope that helps Good luck
