Hi All,
I am currently in Nepal and I planning to come to US as F1 Master Student. I have my brother/sister in Northern Virginia/Boston area and I am looking for a university in that area. ( University for which the chances of getting Visa is High)

So far I came to know about Virginia International University (VIU) which is affordable and have many international student. But I am not sure how easy it is to get Visa for this university. I was in US in tourist visa for few months last year, and due to personal/family matters, had to go back to Nepal. Now I wanted to come back to US as a student.

Any suggestions please!

What majors are you looking for? The main cost to consider while coming to cities like Boston is the cost of living as well, when you get the I20 there will be a section that covers tuition and the cost of living. For example, some one I know goes to Northeastern College of Professional Studies (its not the main NEU but for working individuals), the cost stated on the I20 is abt 18000 for living expenses and about 16000 for tuition and other fees per year. This comes to about 33000 for a year. Of course you wont be spending that much in reality but you have to show the means to pay that. Most colleges in Boston and Cambridge area will have the same living costs. If you are applying from Nepal, you will need to show at least this amount and then some more in bank balance.
It is better for you to apply somewere where the living costs are significantly less like Minnesota, WV, Texas . Stay there for a semester or a year and then transfer out where your folks are.
If money is no issue to your family then here are some resonable colleges in Boston area
Northeastern CPS is a great option for STEM degrees. www.cps.neu.edu/degree-programs/graduate/masters-degrees/
Then there is Salem State University just outside boston. This one is cheap commuter college. www.salemstate.edu/admissions/graduate.php
Other options are Cambridge College, Cambridge good for general masters only like business studies www.cambridgecollege.edu/
Jhonson and Wales in Rhode Island. www.jwu.edu/
UMASS, Boston College, Boston University if you can get scholarships.
Im sure others will have more recommendations.
