My mom is in US in visitor visa and she doesn't have medical insurance. and she needs hearing aids. How can we find no cost or low cost hearing aids? (especially in wichita, kansas). Please share your experience, if you have.

This is a question we must all face when we bring our parents to the US for visits. Health Insurance that are available are very expensive and have limited coverage with high deductible. What to do, God forbid, if they get sick during their stay here?

Care to share any idea/experience on this issue?

I believe hearing Aids are very expensive. It costs in the range of $700 - $2700.
If don't have insurance that covers durable medical supplies, it's not affordable for most of the people.

Depending Upon the age of the MOM. She might qualify for Medicare. You can most probably do that by going to your nearest hospital and apply for it(medicare). I think most likely it is covered under it. Apply first and once you get approved check to see what benefits you got approved for. Hearing Aid might be among your benefit or maybe not BUT ITS WORTH A TRY.

2100 to 6000 is a lot for a hearing aid. When I was in Bangkok airport I bought a hearing aid for my grandma for about 60 bucks. You should ask someone to just get one from there.

I got a coupon yesterday which says "Hearing Aids from $289" and "Free Test".

I cannot endorse the authenticity but there is no harm to try them out.
