i need to create a prototype website using Ruby on Rails and MySQL for my assignment... but i can't figure out what sort of website should i create... can you suggest me? and can you suggest me any website or anything that i can refer to ?

Ruby on Rails is powerful language. Why don't you creates webservices. Make some websites like shopping list generator(which saves your past list and generate the new one with the help of AI). Use web services to bind to database from the UI.

you can make a prototype of DVD or movie rental service where users can regerster themself, search movie from database and order them..
