Why democracy failed so many times in Nepal until today? (1) Racism: Foreign Khas tribes (Chettri and Bahun) came from North West India and they manipulated Nepali native tribes’ people in their religion, culture and languages. These Bahun and Chettri implemented Caste Systems and divide people in upper caste and lower caste where 95% Nepali native tribes under lower cast and suppress them in many sectors like employment, education, social, cultural, religion and political participation. Native Nepali Tribal people never ever get fair treatment and democratic civil rights in employment, education and political participation. This unequal and un-fairness has been more than 60 years in Nepal. (2) Corruption: In the context of Nepal, Most people are involving in openly organize heavy corruption those who in Nepali government Official from lower ranks to higher, Seven Nepali political parties leaders and members, Project engineers and managers, Bank directors, Bankers and Managers, Senior rank Police officers, Senior rank army officers and Rich Business people. (3) Organize Crimes: In Nepali Government, senior government officials do heavy briberies and ask illegal commission for authorization to work, Political parties collect illegal million rupees donation and make it disappear on their personal bank accounts, and also they organize crimes with corrupted government officials and business people. Nepali Rich business people do illegal business like black marketing, smuggling like Woods, Oil, Goods, Gold as well as drugs trafficking. (4) Political and Bureaucracy for dirty business: More than 95% government employee are Bahuns and Chettri people and rest of other Native Nepali Tribes become victim of bureaucracy of Bahuns and Chettri people. More than 93% political leaders and key members are Bahuns and Chettris unfairly get vacancy whether Maoist, Nepali congress party, Nepali prajatantra party, Nepal communist party and other Nepali political parties. (5) Democracy, Peace, Freedom and Human Rights become tool of crime and corruption: In obviously and reality, There are so many people screaming about democracy, peace, freedom and human rights but same people involving heavy organize crimes and corruption in private and social work, business, politics, government jobs and country development projects. These are key problems in Nepal that openly heavily organize - racism, crimes and corruption in the foundation of Nepal which ruined Nepali Democracy, Peace, Freedom and Human Rights. Conclusion: Nepalese people must correct these key root problems before ask for Democracy, peace, freedom and human rights. It is very important to fix before any new political changes. All Nepalese must get equal rights and fairness in education, employment, politics and in society. Nepali government and political parties must give priority in every fields to Tharu native people of Nepal.

First of all…. What does mean Democracy? A system by which social equality is favored. Democracy means "rule of the people". Democracy includes open discussion, direct voting on significant issues, policy formation in all realms of social life; economics, education, religion and public life. So important elements of Democracy are: (1) All race or tribe or all status people must have Equal rights for anything or any subjects by law (2) Woman, Man, Child, Living things and nature protected by law (3) Nobody must be above the Law (4) Freedom in speech, expression, demand and protest (5) Must respect Human Rights and Civil Rights. But …. Did we have democracy since 7 decades in Nepal? Did we implement democracy in Nepal? Do we have democracy in Nepal? Why democracy failed in Nepal? What are the roots causes so many times democracy failed in Nepal? More than 90% must be above here....

Well folks, I would have to blame myself for the failure... If an apt guy like myself decides to call some other country home and leave his homeland to be ruled by Jholes (the kind you see vandalizing the public property during strikes, especially the bidhyarthi netas), then what can I expect ??? ;-)

who knows? democracy takes love, ala "cookies take love" uttered by the oracle in "the matrix". no love for nepal, no love for the fellow nepali, no love for the your responsibilities ===> failure. democracy also takes time. the west has taken centuries. why would you expect everyhing to change in a mere decade?

Them have no self-respect. Them vote communists in every election. Agree, them monkeys. Them do not deserve democracy. Them love to be kicked around by dictators. Them slaves.

You bastard hippocrates are telling the original people of Nepal to be replaced from some worst encounters you had with these people and trying to generalize whole the race from your unforgetful incidents of your life while you yourself are encroaching other's land and complain about discrimination here. Go on and promote more hatred here in sajhaland too.

I can't believe what I am reading these days on this forum. It seems like people spend way too much time researching, dissecting and analyzing why Democracy failed in Nepal. How long did we have democracy? About a good 10 years or so probably. What do you expect? Radical changes in just a decade of a political system that, at that time was very new and foreign to the masses? Democracy didn't fail Nepal; Nepal failed Democracy, because it didn't even show up for the exam. It failed in understanding, interpreting, implementing, monitoring and controlling the various nuances of democracy. We are a highly agrarian society with a severe lacking in fundamental infrastructure and social institutions. We don't need to look at a historical context here. Don’t over analyze things, guys! What I am saying is that instead of talking about why and how things went wrong, we should brainstorm on "What NOW?" What is to be done? With or without corruption and everything else, for Nepal to develop, it has to become more industrialized. To sit here and say that Nepal would have made tremendous progress had there been political stability and minimum leakages is pipe dreaming. Do you think the problems occurred in Nepal due to a few bad apples? Because the ruling classes were just greedy? NO. Nepal was destined to stumble because it got democracy prematurely. Just like plants need to be in certain environmental constants, i.e. (water, sunlight, etc.) to live, Democracy needs to be cultivated in a "democracy friendly" environment. Nepal didn't have that, 14 years ago. It doesn't have that today. This is a very difficult question to answer. Does Nepal have to start from scratch and rebuild from the grassroots level, or do we just make tweaks and adjustments here and there and keep a lot of what we have currently? I leave that question to be debated by everyone on this forum. Where does Nepal go from here?

Who told you that ..... "Nepal did not have Democracy 14 years ago." When Rana Regime "Dictetorship" collasped in 1951 and established Democratic People systems in Nepal. Look at the photo. Swearing in ceremony of first Government after the dawn headed by Prime Minister Mohan Shamsher Janga Bahadur Rana in 1951. In the picture from Right to left are seated Late HM King Tribhuvan Bir Bikram Shah Dev, the then Crown Prince Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah, Prime Minister Mohan Shamsher JB Rana, Home Minister B.P. Koirala, Ganesh Man Singh and others. Only key matter was those are crooks Nepalese since then until now. These people do not deserve Democracy and Freedom.

It has been 55 years of Democracy in Nepal. But we are going down the hill since 1951. Why? I agree 100% with "topheroni3" and in she said perfectly correct. Read her post above.

Nepali democracy failed 4 times because... (1) Racial discrimination and suppression other Nepalese races by bahun and chettris in Education, Government employments, social and political participation (2) Heavy and deeply rooted National Crimes and Corruption in government and Political parties (3) Corrupted and Criminal people become High Authority where they make constitution, Law, Order, Rule, Regulation and they break them up. (4) Law-less country and No capital punishment.

With Democracy comes Responsibility and Accountability. Democracy in Nepal wil fail again and again as long as leaders won't change. Democracy wil work if leaders are responsible and there is a system that holds them accountable.
