Hi,

I have few questionss about permanent residency application process under EB2 (National Interest / Outstanding Researcher) Category. If you are knowledgeable on this matter, can you please share your experience with us here?

1. What are the required documents? I saw the minimal requirements listed in USCIS website, but what do you suggest as safe - more than adequate - list of requirements for smoot application process?

2. At what point should one apply? Right before graduation, after graduation or during employment while at Optional Practical Training period? Does one really need an employer's sponsorship for this category?

3. Can one go outside of the US while the application is in process?

4. What is the process and how long will it take?

Any information you can share will be much appreciated.

I got my green card through EB2 but not under national interest waiver. You might find some useful information here on EB2 : - http://www.immihelp.com/gc/employment/greencard.html#EB2

I am not 100% positive about (1),(2),(4) but on (3), when I did my stuff, the only time you needed to be in the US was when you were filing the 485. Infact, I was outside the country for sizable chunks of time during my green card process and had no issues as a result.

Hope that helps a bit - you might also want to try www.immigrationportal.com - you can get some good (and free) advice on that site.

Good luck!
