It only helps u to get a Professsonal Engr (PE) License, which could help get a job. Can't get PE without Engr in Training (also called FE) test.

These days most of the employers ask for the EIT pass candidates. In most of the states EIT is the MUST. It will help you get PE in future. It is not that hard to pass this exam if you have good academic background (specially from TU, Nepal). I suggest you go for it. Its better if you take FE exam before your graduation. It worths it!!!!

EIT is a good thing to have if you are looking for a job in power field in a consultating company. It's a must for city and state jobs. Only thing is it's only valid in the state you got from. Good luck.
