Hearing about nagarikreport whining all day long (and what not) is a bore; so why not take a lil' sojourn and talk about something that gives us instant gratification (so to say).

Get set, ready and go - your things from the bucket list

"watch champions league final in Wembly"

I must admit that I'm a bit shocked with the choice. It appears that you're a decent soccer fanatic but Wembley isn't remotely among the finest venues. Camp Nou, Bernebeu, Allianz Arena, Giuseppe Miazza are much better venues. Wembley's capacity is amazing but the pitch is bloody awful to say the least.

even though m not a fan of english football team...but when it comes to football stadium with traditions, passion, crowd and the environment Wembley is the cathedral of football, it is the capital of football and it is the heart of football. I agree with you about the pitch bt thts just after the renovation of the stadium(2007) and they are working on tht but on the footballing environment, Wembly is Wembly... so it's on my list...

Role_model, are you expressing your desire and aims of your life or sharing your bucket list?

Detoxg, You probably have the most achievable bucket list albeit I'm not sure Roger Federer will make it to the final of US Open next year or in the future.

Kings of Leon are pretty amazing. I wish to see them perform too.

Grace, I don't think you really need more than a month to see Europe. I get what you're saying but do you really think that a person needs more than 5 days to 'see' NYC? Same about Europe in my opinion. I envy your experience though. I was fortunate enough to go to Europe while in High School and boy, didn't I love Germany!

While we're at it, if someone is serious about taking a road trip to Europe or Alaska sometime next summer, feel free to hit me up.

Greetings all!

Footyfan,
I am not sure if five days or a month would be enough for the Europe tour but I shall keep your suggestion in consideration.

imperfect_harmony,
I sure would love to see my boys slam them tigers - both!

Happy Tuesday!

Footy,

I am planning to visit Alaska next summer and planning to drive from Anchorage to Fairbanks. I wish I could travel in February to see Aurora Borealis, but driving would be an impossibility.

haha. I see what you did there, Grace.

My intent was to imply that 5-7 days in NYC = 30 days in Europe. If you think that you're gonna see the entire Europe, then you might as well see the entire world, observing every fine detail.

As an avid travel enthusiast, I'd definitely wish to go to England, Scotland, France, Germany, Italy, Greece and Portugal.

That's a noble idea, Behoove_me. I'm planning on going to Vancouver and Seattle (12-15 hr drive) from the Bay Area sometime in December...Wish I really could find a travel companion to drive far up North or Europe.

I saw people's bucket list about meeting President Clinton. I had the amazing good fortune to shake his hand in the last year of his presidentship. It was by shear luck. I happened to attend the Presidential Golf Tournament in Virginia because a friend of mine could not attend it. He gave me the tickets. I got to see some of the top golf players in action, including Tiger Woods.
The highlight of my day was when I was standing around near the Presidential motorcade. Secret Service men all over me. Then Clinton started to walk towards his car. I was standing there in with a small group. And a few people started calling out, "President Clinton, President Clinton." The president turned over and started walking over us. Secret Service people were all around us. I was the only brown person there. I had two secret service people really close to me.
He started shaking hands. I extended mine. And right there, President Clinton shook my hand. I was thrilled. I was amazed. I respect Bill Clinton a lot. I always knew he was tall. But his skin was kind of hanging off his chin. But I know he was going through a lot of stress at this time. This was when his popularity rating was one of the lowest with the whole Monica Lewinsky scandal.

I would also love to add Istanbul to my list followed by being Sherlock Holmes accompanied by my best buddy Watson for a day.

Footyfan,
What did I do? Perplexed!

Dear beehove_me,
Alaska sounds fun; I am envious!

Writing this story: 'The Last King of Nepal' was one of the things in my bucket list.
http://sajha.com/sajha/html/index.cfm?threadid=93567

In many ways, I guess I am almost writing this story not for our generation or even my son's generation but rather for my grandson's generation and afterwards. I am trying to capture the mood that guys like you and I feel today about Nepal and the king's of the past. In many ways, we are witnessing a very dramatic transition in Nepal's history today--end of monarchy and beginning of democracy. Nepal will never go back to being a monarchy again.

I am trying to capture the unique mood that we are living today in this story so that the Nepalese who come generations after us might get as accurate picture as possible of both the past history of Shah Kings, but also of the opinion of guys like you and I and how we saw the Kings of the past. Certainly our view point today in the year 2011 of the Shah Kings will be as important for the children 50 to 70 to 100 years from now to know. Is it not?

Over time history is lost because facts that are not recorded are lost. So it is up to guys like you and I to document whatever quirks and idiosyncracies about the historical figures of our time. To the degree that Nepalese of the past took the time to do that, you and I have a knowledge of history. And to the degree that you and I take the time to write history as accurately and entertainingly as possible, the future generations of Nepalese will have knowledge of their identity and roots.

My aim through this story is to be able to do my little part to contribute towards making Nepal's history a little more accessible to coming generations. I don't know how successful I will be in this aim. But I am trying. And with blessing and support of guys like you, I know I will be able to do at least something little for my country. And if I can do that, I will be able to hold my head a little higher in calling myself a Nepali.

Jaya Nepal!  One thing crossed off my bucket list.
