Before we condemn the Haitian mass or slander our own troops, a little bit of research is warranted.

This 2005 report shows that Nepal didn’t report any cholera case. This is an old report and no report doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist, but it atleast doesn’t make our case weak.

http://www.who.int/topics/cholera/surveillance/en/index.html

In 2008 there a cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe.

The strain found in Haiti resembles the strains that are found in South Asia.

They have found the point of origin of the outbreak and it is where the Nepali troops were located.

Haiti will have a major election in coming weeks. Politicians can thus provoke the mass to claim their leadership OR to create unrest in the country before election.

UN has denied that its troop brought the disease, but it is in its interest to do so.

There has been no report of any of the UN peace keeping force, including Nepali, reporting a cholera infection.

These are the facts. Unless more facts are produced, you cannot refute NOR can you confirm that we started it. But instead of pointing fingers, what is important is that they act immediately to combat this disease. Even if we brought it there, we didn’t intend to do it. Do we charge them for HIV now?  But before we start cursing on the Haitians, understand that it is fueled by the politicians who are rallying up the uneducated poors.

Further investigation is needed before pointing fingers.

This news and allegations to the Nepalese Army has been hunting me since Saturday (when I heard the news for the first time). For those, who claim that the Cholera started from Nepalese Army should answer following questions:
1. How come none of the Nepalese troops has any Cholera Symptoms?
2. Research shows that , Cholera can be transmitted by anyone, so why blame our troops?
3. If they claim that the first case of the Cholera was detected in the village near the downstream that originates from the Nepalese peacekeepers camp, then who should be responsible for filtering the sewage UN high commission or Nepalese Troops?
4. As stated in the above link, the national election in the Haiti is few weeks away, and what proof do you have to support the allegation that this issue was not instigated by corrupt politician to distract general public from their deeds?

Have a good day..

Oho! Haiti. This reminds me of our own "Hritik Kanda" in Nepal. We are similar

Hey Haitian brothers ! Send some of your goons to Kathmandu to treat our politicians. And we will send some of our from maoist cantonments there at your election time. We both don't need UN.

Haiti-Nepali Bhai Bhai.

yes, there is no proof of this.
Seems someone is seriously jealous of Nepalese popularity...
And I guess Haiti people, just like Nepalese (who were totally in during Ritik Roshan case), believe on anything. They are poor and emotionally weak. Anything can easily provoke them.

Discussion गरे पछि एसो अरुको कमेंट्स पनी पढौन हो! आफ्नै मात्र कुरा सार्ने कुरै नबुझी?

Someone said, why blame our troops. This blame is not entirely baseless. The cholera strand resembles the strands of South Asian origin. Also it originated from the site where UN troops were staged.

But this obviously doesn't give them the right to point fingers and throw stones. I think UN also should first try to find a solution, contain it and then do an investigation for the allegation. Just shifting the blame doesn't help. As for Nepali army if the blame surmounts we can always threaten pulling from the mission if our name is not cleared. Sounds naive but hey desperate time calls for desperate measure.

1. There is no 100% proof of the strain of the bacteria. Unless an independent body of international medical experts can claim it, it is obvious we're the scapegoat. It could be a volunteer worker (there are thousands from all over the world now), who knows. Has anybody looked into that? No.
2. Haiti is no better than Nepal in terms of political and economical stability. If you look at their history, it has been going on for a long time, one after another. So it could be a political move from a party to distract an issue, just like in Nepal. Right now, it is campaign time. Haiti is going to have election soon.
3. During the earthquake when millions were affected and killed, Haitians had no problem opening their arms to foreigners and the aids glamored by Hollywood celebrities. Let us say , it did in fact come from a Nepali soldier, this is a case of complete innocence. How do you know you're carrying a disease that will kill other people, the symptoms of cholera is very basic. If that was the logic, AIDS came from Africa and now it has engulfed the world. Hey, nobody is blaming Africa for that. Bringing disease to a new land without being aware of it has been going throughout the history of mankind. Guns, Germs and Steel is the topic.
4. Haiti never had any good infrastructure to begin with. The health and hygiene was third worldish, that includes the camp for the victims of the earthquake and the hurricane. Nobody seems to acknowledge that. There is no records that says Cholera never existed on that island. Over time, a more potent strain of bacteria could have evolved.
