Riten, call your service provider and tell them you are going to Canada in a week for a while and you want your phone unlocked so you can use Canadian sim card. They will give you an unlock code.

I think I can answer all the questions regarding unlocking the phone! AT&T immediately provides the Unlock code for all the phones other than iPhone and Nokia. They never provide unlock code for iPhone. For Nokia, they have to request to manufacture so; it might take about a week for you to receive the code to your email address through Manufacturer. You always have to tell them the reason as traveling abroad. If you tell you going to use for other carriers they might not provide you ever. If you have already cancelled the AT&T service, it like impossible to get. However, have your friend who still has AT&T call cust service ask for Subsidy Unlock Code. The reason, once again, has to be the same. Hope this helps all the questions! Cheers'

Riten, Find a friend with AT&T service, take out his sim card and put in your old AT&T phone. After an hour or so have your friend call ATT. In their system they see your phone (sony Ericsson) instead of his (whatever he has). Have your friend tell them that he is going to canada for a month or so and want to unlock the phone. Do not try Unlock code too many times that might LOCK your phone forvever to a particular service provider (SP). If your attempts failed, contact ur SP ASAP. They will provide you the directions to get right one. Make sure you pick the appropriate reason while asking for unlock. I usually go for 'Travelling Abroad'! Cheers'
