Do we need to remind indian government about the state of emergency India had in 1975 for 19 months ???? Back then, political crisis was a lot worse than what we have in nepal nowadays..So why india is making a hue and cry about nepal's situation these days?? It's time for us to unite and give india a lesson on its history... Maybe it's time for young generation like us to google on "state of emergency in INdia in 1975" and compare the present situation in Nepal with that.... Maybe old folk will have "their own say" on this matter..If you are around, pls do speak up..How do you compare the present emergency in nepal with that of India??? For young generation, get educated and speak up your mind... ..and we will see the truth in its true color............ ..a few related links.. http://www.indiansaga.info/history/postindependence/proclaimed.html http://ist-socrates.berkeley.edu/~sar5b/presentations/5_snakes_files/indira_gandhi.htm http://www.rediff.com/news/2002/nov/12spec.htm

We need to understand why "state of Emergency" is necessary sometimes at the risk of our own personal freedom..Media censorship, house arrests of political figures are common things... "...Mrs. Gandhi proclaimed a state of Internal Emergency under Article 352 of the Constitution on the morning of 26 June, suspending the normal political processes, but promising to return to normalcy as soon as conditions warranted it. The proclamation suspended the federal provisions of the Constitution and fundamental rights and civil liberties. The government imposed strict censorship on the Press and stifled all protest and opposition to the government. In the early hours of 26 June, hundreds of the main leaders of the Opposition were arrested under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA). Among those arrested were Jayaprakash Narayan, Morarji Desai, and Atal Behari Vajpayee and Congress dissidents such as Chandra Shekhar. Several academics, newspapermen, trade unionists and student leaders were also put behind bars. Many of the arrested were gradually released: JP in 1975 on grounds of health and others, including Charan Singh and Vajpayee, during 1976. Popular organizations such as Rashtriya Swayam Sewak Sangh (RSS) were banned..."

Swindling people?s right whether in Nepal or in India or in Jupiter has never been appreciated. You can appreciate it when your state of mind changes from humanistic to animalistic. When Mrs. Gandhi imposed emergency in India she was punished badly. First time in post independent history of India congress lost the election. Indira Gandhi lost her prime minister ship. Time teaches the biggest lesson. No one ever imagined (people of my age) that USSR will disintegrate but it happened. Many people are of opinion it happened because people?s right was compromised. Now we are in interesting time of history. Let?s see if king gets dethroned or people will love be slave (in Nepali ?PRAJA?) rather than a citizen.

guys, Can you guess what could be India's true motive behind suspending military support and trying to keep check on King. I doubt they are doing this for restoration of democracy in Nepal. Coz' how can you expect a country which is supporting total authoritian government in Bhutan to come out and cry for democracy? How can a country who is totally ignoring and in some extend supporting the HR violation of Bhutanese by bhutanese King to come out and cry to stop violation of HR in Nepal. I guess this move was just to show it is still Bully Big brother in South Asian region. Time has come for us to reply back with build much deeper friendship with other SAARC countries and China. I think India is opposing king for following two reasons: 1) Old enemity between Royal Family and Gandhi Family which started between Late King Birendra and Rajiv Gandhi over the reason related to Sonia Gandhi ( current Indian rulling party chief) 2) It has always been easy for India to exploit nepal and eat it up part by part because of greedy political leaders. So they want corrupt politicians and beurocrats back in power so that they can eat nepal part by part ... and we can not blame India for this ... every one will do the same if the government in our country itself is greedy, incompetent and corrupt.... In last 14 years india exploited nepal badly proof Tanakpur, Koshi Barage, Kalapani and many more.. They were always successful to buy nepalese politicians and beurocrats easily.... our beurocrats and politicians sold country's part even for small thing like a seat for their children in Indian University...... I guess before taking Indian pressure as global pressure for democracy we should think deeply why is that pressure comiing over to us... if its democracy then why not bhuta or burma why only nepal.... Butanese king attended indias republic day parade as chief guest... hahaha what a joke... their prime minister is not ready to share dias with our king in SAARC just because of Feb 01 but their president is ready to celebrate a republic day with totally authorotian king..... Time has come for us to think...it is sad that even US and UK are undermining the facts and following India blindly....

"it is sad that even US and UK are undermining the facts and following India blindly" I am surprised you could not postulate couple more conspiracy theory against UK and US. May me you do not like to give your they are developed nations. hahahah In my view if you become weaker others will always squeeze us (Human phenomena. Why we remained weaker, something to ponder about. One of the reason could be we always wanted to be ruled by someone.

" In my view if you become weaker others will always squeeze us (Human phenomena. Why we remained weaker, something to ponder about. One of the reason could be we always wanted to be ruled by someone." exactly... your corrupt leaders made our country so weak that... India took advantage of us.... by the way please read properly b4 commenting... I am not blaming india for this all... i am blaming your corrupt leader that made our country weak and vunerable.... when rajiv gandhi impose sanction... Marichman let nepalese life go on without bowing infront of Indians... he supplied kerosene through plane.... When indian airlines plane was hijacked even though the plane was hijacked with a mere knife... our then pm krishna prasad bowed in front of indian media and indian govt admitting it was nepal security lapse and guns were smuggled through nepalese airport... while the truth is they got guns after they landed at afghanistan.... so plane truth dude.. your corrupt leader made nepal so weak that it was exploited by every bloody tom dick and harry... So King had to take this action to save soverginiety of nepal and freedom of nepalese......
