Man is the most cunning animal - has thousand of reasons to defend oneself. Just for an example, if I say how sad it is to eat an animal for taste, then we'll see so many wise men appearing...

Do you see souls in them or just a food? When I(man) am in the temple, mosque, church, I act as if I am the most religious person. When I talk, I want to prove myself as the wisest person in the world. But what about eating animals ? When a man kills a tiger, he says it is hunting. But vice versa, it creates a havoc. Don't you see - it also is breakfasting. It kills for survival - the mother nature created it that way. Human beings have thousands of other things to eat, but eventually the addiction, the unconscious state of mind, the habit or the ego plays the role. I've met people who say I love the animals .... but are so cunning that they never say, " I love to eat them too"

It's sad, in the name of the religion, thousands of animals get killed. Not trying to say that everyone should not eat meat. I agree with you Paagal, human beings have other options but they choose this, its up to them to decide, what is ethical and what is not. As for me, i stopped eating meat when i was a child, since the day, i saw the goat having its head chopped off!Changine oneself for good is not bad at all, is it?

Killing is bad. Be it animals or humans it doesnt matter. If you say killing in the name of sacrifice is common in our religion then it gives hinduism a bad rap. After all those animals that are killed by us are eaten by not gods and it has nothing do with values of religion. Most of the religion dont care about animal violence..I mean Muslims feast on Beef...Christians go crazy on everything and we have our own choices...I mean eating meat or killing animals are choices made by individual... Thats why I like Buddhism..such a simple and pure religion.. yes, we have so many other choices other than meat...we could have a decent healthy life...wihtout..I hope smoeday most of us will forget the greed of indulging in dead corpses..

God created goat so that human and other animals could feed them and survive. :P Simple as that... I'd consume them and any other edible animals without any regret till the day my doctor tells me to go vegetarian. :) Feri, Dashain ma khasi nakhaaye kahile khaane? Marya bholipalta? :D
