"This is an accepted practice in many countries. "
Care to provide some examples with extent of hierarchy?

Honorary soldier /marine is fine but why the whole mighty Honorary Chief of the Nepal Army thing?

To me it sounds like a symbolic subjugation of the entire security of Nepal to India military just like Bhutan did. Do overlook my language; Nepal has been a cultural biatch of India for so long already. We need to start realizing what is good for our society/country.

It's the tradition between both countries to confer the title of honorary General to each other's COAS whenever they visit each other's country. The news you posted is wrong, we aren't making him honorary COAS, just a general.

http://www.ndtv.com/india-news/army-chief-bipin-rawat-to-be-conferred-with-honorary-military-rank-by-nepal-1674604

"As a tradition between the two national defence forces, Nepal President Bidhya Devi Bhandari will confer the honorary General of Nepal Army to General Rawat at a special programme at her official residence 'Sheetal Niwas' tomorrow."

Same goes to Nepali COAS visiting India:

"Feb 4, 2016- Chief of Army Staff Gen Rajendra Chhetri received honorary rank of General of the Indian Army from Indian President Pranab Mukherjee amid a special ceremony held in latter’s office in New Delhi on Wednesday."

Badhijanne,

You did not provide anything new in your long post that I have not already read and understood. I was expecting you to post examples of army officials from developed countries ( matured and wiser culture therefore) where they confer such honorary rank to their counterparts. 'Chaakadi', 'chaaplusi', and being politically correct at every waking hour, are part of perennial custom, tradition, and culture in India (Hindustan) and Nepal (mini Hindustan) as we all know. All these charades are designed to use Nepal as a launch pad when Hindustan wants to lose to Chin again.

Dunno why you beg to differ but this is exactly how it was posted on http://kathmandupost.ekantipur.com/ :

I think I know why Paradox.

Some of us Nepalese have this trigger you see. It's called "Hate India" trigger. Government of India keeps screwing Nepal and since our leaders cannot do much, the citizens pour their anger over India through whatever channels we get. Nepali leader comes, kills our teachers and villagers - we are cool with that. But if an Indian celebrity allegedly says something bad about Nepal, we declare all out riot.

How dare Nepal confer such a title to an Indian? Forget about verifying our sources, we see it - we get angry. Was there a history of doing this? Who cares? We are angry and we better let them know.

It's about time we stop being such a nervous and trigger angry bunch.

GeetMai, just wanna argue, do we?
What I posted was seriously not enough for you? At this point, I generally move on thinking the other side just wants to argue. But I want to give you a benefit of doubt and will expand further as you've requested.

First of all, the news itself. Like I said, Kantipur posted it wrong. Would you believe one source or multiple other sources?

http://www.hindustantimes.com/world-news/indian-army-chief-arrives-in-kathmandu-to-be-conferred-with-honorary-rank-of-nepal-general/story-sxiKeiWgZDovH7YAjN1T4M.html

http://spotlightnepal.com/News/Article/Indian-Army-Chief-General-Bipin-Rawat-Visited-Nepa

Even Kantipurpost says the same thing: http://kathmandupost.ekantipur.com/news/2017-03-28/indian-army-chief-rawat-in-nepal.html

Like the articles say, and I have been saying all along,
"Nepal and India have a long tradition of conferring such titles on the chiefs of their armies since 1950 to signify the close military-to-military ties."

If both countries have been doing it for over 60 years, why is it necessary for a "developed" country to do the same thing for you to feel that we aren't doing the "chaplusi".

I posted another link from Kathmandupost which stated that India did the SAME EXACT THING to Nepali COAS. Are they doing the chakadi too?

If this doesn't address your concern, I will just assume you don't want to understand.

I used the 'chaplusi' word in a blanket-statement sense. I am not blaming any individual in particular here. But being subservient may be a deeply ingrained characteristic in the Nepalese society and even more intensely so in the Indian society given the distinct strata of four castes that has existed for millennia. Nepal bows to every whim of India and the Commonwealth of India, in turn, to the Western nations and corporations. India is covetedly called the largest democracy for none'. Anyway, Nepal has become a derivative common-wealth nation as a result.
You did not have to copy and paste your statement about reciprocal conferral of honorary title for the nth time. But now that it's done...Oh well.
Let's say Kathmandupost misled its readers. Shall we?

Regarding the gift of seven horses to NA, we could have politely declined to accept for a change. Jim Carrey could have drawn an analogy of the dog and you know what.

But we could potentially receive horses in more numbers from China if we started conferring similar military titles to them.

I hear you bro, but we also shouldn't trigger hate on Indians all the time, on every petty things.
We have to strategically strengthen our position, not provoke the big bullies surrounding us.

I am disliking extending this thread any further, bro.

Hate is a strong word, my friend. I am sure you are familiar with the quote containing the keywords
hate - fire - rat - house.

Especially having lived in India breathing the air and drinking the water there, how could one hate that country? Since when did stating facts become spewing hatred? I just pity the poor culture and values those parts of the world.

Some of you say, this hole thing is trivial or petty. But why was a news article created in the first place? I don't think it was just about the five horses and two donkeys received in the guise of seven horses.

Peace
