Actually, Kalimpong is a town within Darjeeling district. I happen to know some kith and kins of Mr. Chhetri up-close. (No, I am not from Darjeeling). So, Siliguri is also in Darjeeling district. But, none from Siliguri would say he/she is from Darjeeling. And the OP did not say Darjeeling district. Anyway, it's a trifling matter to argue. In the main context, Ganga Bardan also did not write this song himself, most probably. This song he possibly collected from Sankhuwasabha or Bhojpur or Dhankuta or any other place in the eastern hill. IDK what is the fuss here.

Has Bipul claimed it to be his song? As far as I know it's not included in his album or EP. I even heard that he acknowledged it to be a song he heard growing up.

Gari sakyo ki ke thaah, huna ta hoi? @Seeker, This is so pre-101 but here it goes. The hailing-from-where context becomes different and generalized based on where the narrator is currently located at. Are you gonna continue to say that Mr. Chettri is from Kalimpong when we have all migrated to planet Mars after Elon Musk colonizes it? GMJD Wow! Don't stretch it too far mate. The news is published from Itahari, not Mars. from that context, Darjeeling and Kalimpong are not the same. I'd still consider a nearby town of Gorubathan or Kurseong or Mirik to be different from Darjeeling. Yes, I continue to say Bipul is from KPG, as it's true. Are you trying to say Dharan and Inaruwa are the same?

Looks like the dude had lots of talent. What a raw presentation of Nepali Bhaka and the words too. Hope he does not dispair like Arun Thapa and majority of Nepalese know him only after he dies. The least Bipul can do is come forward and clarify what it is. Just acknowledge if it was an honest mistake and if it was not a mistake then take appropriate action to pay the credit where its due. In a way i am glad this became a controversy as i would have never known this great talent.
