If you are working full time in a good company, there will be no issues. If you are working for Desi Consultancies you MAY get into issues. Usually, if your case is straightforward (assuming no administrative processing,  PIMS verification etc), they'll issue your visa in 1-2 days. If Administrative processing it may take from few days to few weeks. If PIMS verification, usually takes about 5-10 days. All depends on your luck, company etc. Examples of questions they'll ask: 1. What company do you work for ? Where's it located ? 2. How much is your salary ? 3. What does your company do ? 4. Are you married ? 5. Can you show me your LCA and other H1b Documents ? 6. What's your job title and what do you do ? 7. Who's your client ? Your vendor ? (** if you are working through desi consultancies mostly) 8. Can i see your pay stubs ? 9. Do you have your tax documents with you ? These are just few examples, they can ask you anything. How do i know ? I appeared for H1B visa interview at Kathmandu recently ! Good Luck.

Do you think I will be fine as far as company concern? My main concern is about the time they take to verify and issue the VISA since my stay is only for 15 days.  I heard the stories about not getting visa for weeks, that scares me.

This is my experience: got the online DS-160 from US itself. Went to Nepal - paid the required fees and got the date. ( within 2-3 days) Appeared for the interview ( stand in H1B line :-) ). Interviewer : Where do you work ? Whats your day to day responsibility? Whats your salary? Are you single ? How long are you going to be here ? Thats it. It was quite simple and straight. Suggestion: Once you get your H1B stamping the other day, please get a Department of Labor approval letter. Its mandatory otherwise you will have problem while returning back to USA. Process/Suggestion: FInd Departtment of Labor office (बैदेशिक रोजगार प्रमांड  पत्र). Its nearby tin kuney, Kathmandu. Getting Department of labor approval is a tedious and slow processing task. Dont expect too much. However, be patient. Dont loose your control. There will be a volunteer booth inside the office premises. Ask as many question as you have there itself. There will be broker/dalal who are willing to help you expedite your process from the moment you park your car/bike. Its better if you know someone or do it yourself or get help from dalals. I did it on my own and it took around 5-6 hours. #shithappens Cost of the whole process: Insurance, fees ~ 3000 ( not quite sure about the fees. Please have enough money)

@Open  Im going to Nepal in couple of weeks for stamping. I'll probably have my interview last week of October. I'll keep you posted on how things go. I work for a desi company under EVC model. My end client is a government entity. I was going to Canada but then changed my mind cuz at least I'm going to be with family in this festive season instead of some hotel. @open - I was in Nepal for a month beginning Oct 12th until Nov 10th. I applied for a visa, I was only asked one question, "do you work on client site or your employer office." Since I am a full time employee of my employer, I said "employer site" and that was it, no further questions. The consular asked me to pick up my passport in 2 days.  Hope this helps.

wavernepal,I attended interview for Stamping last week. All went well.  I had to wait for long time before Counselor call my name. I also met couple of other person who have H1B stamping and received their VISA. I am not sure why but they called all the H1B candidate at last once they done with other candidates like F1, Tourist etc. The interview was very short may be couple mins. Counselor asked me few basic questions like - What do you do at work? - what is you company? - what's your position? - At which city do you work? Do you like the place? - He also gave me some information about Foreign workers and their rights in United States provided in a booklet.(Booklet was given by them when you present your documents at first) That's all, He then returned my file and handed me a small White color card to pick my Visa in two business day. I picked my Visa and also went to Department of Foreign Employment located nearby TINKUNE to get the Certificate as no_more_crush suggested above in his post.  I hope that helps!

I went to Nepal after 7 years and I work for a small company with 18 employees.  I was in Nepal for a month beginning Oct 12th until Nov 10th. @WaverNepal Below is the list of documents needed for H1B Stamping: 1. Employement verification letter 2. Original 797 A 3. Attested I-129 copy 4. Copy of LCA 5. Bank Statement (3-6 months) 6. Pay slips (latest 3-4 slips) 7. All I-20s (including CPT and OPT) 8. OPT card  And kick out the nervousness and welcome the confidence. You will be fine.  Good Luck bro!!!

@wavernepal,I have also same sorts of documents as Amarpuri6 has listed. I did not have Bank statement. I don't think this is needed. This may be good to have but not required. You may carry all your I-20s and EAD cards with you but no need to place in the documents file which you present to Counselor. you can keep them with you in case needed. That's it, just keep calm and answer all the questions honestly. you will be good. Once you get your H1B Visa, don't forget to go to Foreign Employment Authorities office to get the Foreign Employment letter that you need to present at Airport while returning. All the Best!

Hi Friends, I am in a situation with my H1B. I recently got a notice that my H1B is approved. However, the notice also mention that I am not eligible for change of status. In order to change the status, I would have to get the visa stamping from Nepal. I am currently working in a F1 status with CPT I-20. My employer is a consultant company and they have asked me to get the visa stamp as soon as possible and told me that I cannot continue to work until I get the visa. I was wondering if anyone has similar situation and share with me with the process that you took to resolve this issue. I would be grateful for your help. Thanks

@ushakya0823, I scheduled my interview by visiting to Nabil Bank. It all depends on the flow of applicants at this time and you can decide accordingly. There was not much waiting time for interview date when I planned my travel and I got the interview date just couple of days after the day I paid application fees. If you have short stay then I recommend you to send your documents and ask your family members to get the interview date for you. I am a consultant of an American IT Services company and work at Client Location. I hope that helps! Good Luck!

Hello everyone, sorry for not updating the thread. I got so busy with work as soon as I got back to USA. My H1B Visa stamping was smooth. My brother took interview date for me scheduled on Wednesday (I reached Nepal on Monday). Interview day: Went to US Embassy at 8am n waited outside for Security. Cleared initial security by 8:30am n then waited for document submission. My name got announced on Window 1 to Submit Documents around 8:45am. Documents submitted n waited for finger printing . White guy on Window 5 called my name for finger printing at 9 am. Finger Printing done n waited for Real Interview. A beautiful young lady ( I think mix of Nepalese and White) announced my name at 9:30 am on Window 10. Me: Good Morning Ma'am! VO: A very good morning. VO: where do you work? Me: xxxxx company VO: how much do you make annually? Me: $xxxx/yr VO: Do you have any relative in US? Me: yes VO: announced the golden word. Your visa is approved. Just be confident n don't lie. @ Wavernepal They did not ask me that letter . As long as you have all other documents as listed by folks here, you should be fine.Mine was stamped on 4 th March. I was asked few question like how long you have been with the company show me you LCA. Just relax and be confident. good luck

Wavernepal, There is nothing such thing as Visa interview appointment letter. The folks in other forum may be referring the yellow colored appointment slip provided by bank that has interview date and time. That slip you need to present while entering to the embassy for interview. Take rest and be confident. You will be good! All the best!

Guys, Unfortunately they issued me 221g white slip. Interview went very well. He asked me about my job, job location, salary, Education and my travel plan and at last that white guy handed me white slip. They took my passport, and orginial I797 A and told me to wait couple of days for administrative processing. Thats it and i am now counting my days to hear from them. I thought they might do administrative processing because of my major Beer scientist. I don't see any other reasons since i am full time, study related jobs, everything is straight. Any thoughts about my case ? I would really appreciate if you guys have any idea about the wait time in Nepal? Thank you.

Same here but in Canada. I was told my visa is approved during interview but then my status shows Admin processing. Its been a month and still waiting.

sometimes delays are due to PIMS being not updated on their system. One thing we all have to understand is that producing all those documents submitted by visa applicants is easy in this modern world of technology. So embassy needs to verify that information against their own database. sometimes these information are not up-to-date locally and they might have to request or verify against their main database. Anyone can produce original looking I-797 during the interview, but they needs to verify that it is indeed valid and issued by USCIS. But I have seen cases where people had to wait months because of company and other issues.

My Experience !! I landed Kathmandu on April 2nd 2014 on Wednesday and had scheduled an interview for Friday on April 4th. I had filled DS160 online and told my sister to print the confirmation page and pay the 190$ at Nabil bank and get the date for Friday (I had called the bank everyday for the date they have been issued( Went to interview on Friday, VO - How you doing?- without smile- Hero - M doing fine, how about you? VO - Well, I cant pull your information , But lets first start the interview hero - sure VO - when did you went to US/ Hero - 2003 VO - when did you start working in this company? Hero - since 2010 as soon as I finished my Undergrad VO - Is that BS or MS Hero - BS VO - did you work on H1 from that time? Hero - No, I was working on OPT and applied for STEM extension for another 17 months and then applied for H1B on Nov 2011 VO - What do you do ? Hero - I am a sales engineer, I do building audits and provide them the reports with savings and recommendation. VO- she sees my document and when she flipped the document that showed I completed my masters, I told her, I just graduated last week and she said Congratulation for completing masters !! VO - You interview is approved but we will call u in few days as we have to Verify PIMS Entry and she gave me a white slip. Hero - Thank you I had an interview on Friday and was waiting for call since Tuesday but also I was checking it online where it said ADMINISTRATIVEPROCESSING. I checked on Wednesday evening online and it said ISSUED. Since, I had provided my US no while filling DS 160, it is why they were unable to contact me and I emailed them saying that my visa is issued and when can I pick up my passport. They told me to come 11 am or 3 pm and I went 11 am on Thursday. I am on PART TIME H1B but also I got stamped, most of us get scared with no reason but I didn't fear. Also, I was taking a month off before I arrived Nepal and will be staying in Nepal for 2 months. GOOD LUCK FELLAS !!!! I think I got easily as I have been in States for 10.5 years, finished my BS and MS and working on the same company for almost 4 years and also this is my 4th visit to Nepal in 10.5 years !!! let me know if any one needs more details and help !!!! happy New year !!!!
