Hey guys just want to create one thread and will update only in this thread rather than creating multiple threads. Please post your ideas also.. Let's share some ideas. Thanks. Here's mine for now:

New Trade***** ALERT:::*****
(1) Bought VTUS (small risky position)... VTUS will be releasing data of its phase 3 clinical trial in few weeks (but could come anytime--risky).

This is a risky trade holding through this kind of binary event is very risky. If phase 3 data is good my target is $5-$6
If phase 3 data fails this will plunge to $1 range....I am expecting positive data based on their previous study but you never know. Also, Shabby management bought some shares of VTUS today...All the signs pointing this will have a positive data. I am only risking some money. But i wouldn't suggest anyone who's not willing to risk -50% of money if p3 data fails.

(2) *** Bought some INS*** profitable company i believe will see some upward momentum if traders catch it...... Small position... If i see some pop i will be out though..Not holding too long..This is a low float so don't chase.

(3) I still hold *** ISR ** from my entry of $0.52 yesterday.. Might sell if i get few % gain tomorrow. I am still at profit though.

So far this month i have flipped AMBS penny stock 2 times
(a) $0.052 to $0.072                      +38% gain
(b) $0.0649 to $0.0735 (today)    + 13%

CBMX flipped it from entry of $2.23 out at $3 range     +35%

will update more later:

I think tradeking is cheapest at 4.95 flat rate. But I am used to scottstrade. I have seen platform down for sometime in past few days. Hope its not recurring issue.

I see lots of risky play. I am more of value investor and like to look at ratios like P/E , P/B, PEG, etc. My strategies are mostly long term.
what are your strategies?

You can wait for Robinhood, backed by google. I think, if you are into small caps then they let you trade free. I may give it a try with some money I am ready to loose. If you are for big money, and probably not day trading then transaction fees is trivial.

My strategies are mostly long term too. I usually play safe (or try to play safe), but have played some risky shots with huge money in the past like AAMRQ as I once lost most of my hard earned money on other stocks and no way to recover than taking huge risks. If things had gone bad I could have been down to street. I still get shivered when I look at the past, just one and half year back.
I read articles and don't take decisions based on articles or news headlines. Usually, I jump right to the comments of any news articles to get views from all sides. I usually follow guys on stocktwits to understand the current situations of the stocks I am holding or on my watch list, but have to filter lot of them. Since I am not from business/finance/economics background it is hard for me to convince how the technicals work. But, again I am convienced they dont teach you how those wolves in wall street work. So, in short I mostly trade on sentiments and usually go against the analyst, but I am sure that does not always work like technical or fundamentals too. If I am to go for day trading then I am sure I need to learn a lot and trade like you guys, but I see myself not into this profession any time in near future.

robinhood looks good. but i don't think its out yet. for a starter, do you think penny stock better than the regular? i've read stories about people making lot of money on that, but i guess penny stock would be long term right? anyone traded on fidelity?

yes, robinhood is still not released but you can sign up and wait for invitation.
penny stocks are never for long term. It depends how much money you are pouring into stocks and how much weight does that put on you. For some people loosing 10k is nothing, for some it is several years of saving. So, you can play penny stocks with money you would think you already lost the time when you put into those stocks.
As an example I invested on couple of chinese stocks back in 2011. It was hot then, and I read lots of articles and yahoo forum (bullsh*t), where lots of guys were updating on how great the companies were how they were doing business in China. Spent a lot of time, and convinced myself to buy those. But lost 99.99% on one, and 89% on another. They were some company dealing with minerals and energy bulbs. Chinese stocks are past now, but even all penny stocks are risky. I would suggest to invest on mid or small caps, may be couple dollars or more, and always look at average volume, otherwise you could be buying stock at real cheap but never evere be able to sell them even cheaper. Make sure there are lots of people trading or watching those stocks, based on daily volume and people posting in stocktwits. Give it a year or so on learning before you finally put your huge savings into stocks.

Time for a BOUNCE people ...Starter Positions on
BONT stops at 10.50s or 10s( ideally -5% or at some support levels )
CPWR stops at 9.50s (but pretty optimistic on this one but tight stop none the less )
ERII stops at 4.00
INFN stops at 6.75s (kinda risky on this one )
PENN stops at 10.65 (nice support at 11 lets see it hold through it and bounce )
WWW stops at 27.50 (solid support at 27.50 )

Add according to how the charts shape up ...

Holding period typically 2-5 days and Exit points 5-10 percent on the upside but also dependent upon movement whereas stops are non negotiable

Risky Options Play : Strangle on TSLA Feb 14 180 call and 170 put (Stops on 20 percent to the downside )

For the longer term...GLD.. that GLD bottom call looking pretty good rt abt now (GOLD bounced right off that 1180-1200 support)

Plan the trade, trade the plan.

Be careful people. Looks like more correction coming. The Fed didn't stop 'tapering' despite the emerging market crisis. From next week, we will have the new fed chairwoman. Need to wait and see what she does.

Want to point out Khairey's comment: penny stock are never for long term. I don't agree with that. Penny stocks can make you millionaire if you play correctly. There was an article on CNN about this guy who became a millionaire by investing in penny stocks.
They are risky, but at the same time very rewarding. AAMRQ is an example. After filing for bankruptcy, American Airline's stock was trading for less than a dollar. By the time they merged with US Airways(i think it took about an year), they were trading at $12.
These days I'm looking at $BONE, but haven't invested yet. At one point, it was trading at@ 38 cents. Rite now, it's trading @ 60 cents. This company has a new CEO and he is believed to turnaround the company. More info on $BONE@ http://www.nasdaq.com/symbol/bone/stock-chart?intraday=off&timeframe=5y&splits=off&earnings=off&movingaverage=None&lowerstudy=volume&comparison=off&index=&drilldown=off

Lopchan bro, i think we r hitting 1750s in s&p at least. Rest of yr thioughts abt fed and yellen r childish... If i might say that.... Whenever new fed chair assumes the duty, market has historically corrected 6-10 % ... Lets see how far we go here .

Its been a while OBAMA!!!

Imo the key support level to look for tomorrow on spx would be 1770 as it bounced off those levels twice today ...the sole reason I am long those positions for a bounce play 5-10 percent at the most...but in the longer run I second the notion of a selloff....WINTER IS COMING!! LOL

I hope some serious correction is done before we move up.. Dow jones has doubled very fast here. We are definitely due for some correction. 2-3 more RED days then the panic starts and the stocks become cheaper and cheaper LOL.

almost all stocks were in the pennies back in 2009 !

@lopchandai >> There was an article on CNN about this guy who became a millionaire by investing in penny stocks.
- Yes, I read that article. That was like "single mom earned 6000$ per week working from home" kind of article. He made million dollar crushing millions of other novice investors. But the clue is he won by understanding people's sentiments and analyzing technicals. Penny stocks are never for those except for people who makes living trading penny stocks.

AAMRQ: It is easier to tell how great the stock is looking at the past performance. But AAMRQ at one point priced at 36 cent was a right price at that time. Emerging out of bankruptcy for a company is quite exception, is what I am hearing about American Airlines. Nevertheless, I traded AAMRQ couple of times and made huge return.
I would say if you are throwing couple of hundred dollars and wait on profit for partying then penny stocks are great. Also, helps you understand the volatility of stocks. Even great is with any stocks you will learn many new things just for the sake of money. I spent so many days and hours learning about cancer drugs and treatment while trading ARIA which I had absolutely no idea before. But, if you are into stocks as a value investor then always go for mid or large cap company.
Also, I think trading "options" are much better than trading penny stocks, at least you can concentrate on few companies and don't have to dig out too details on thousands of penny stock companies out there. Buying "puts" you can earn several hundred percentage even when the stocks goes down. Its all about your ability to predict price in couple of weeks or months. But it is more like a bet than investment where you have 50% chance of winning or loosing. This is a trade where you will understand time value of money, and importance of timely decision. You will be surprised with the time and effort you put yourself studying and thinking just for the sake of money. Well, my suggestions applies to novice who come here looking for trading stock. But I can gladly take f-off from you guys who I think are quite champions on trading stocks.

Khairey, I am not a pro. Sorry if I offended you. I just started trading last year. I was just sharing what I knew. I am a devoted learner though.
