i took the shutter key from nails yesterday (since we were working late, dancing around the trees hahaha)..so here i am to open our cafe for yet another day of business (a successful one hopefully) :D

A Day at Cafe N'

We have our own language here in Cafe N'. It's not English. Nor it is Nepali. It is mixture of both. That's why it is Nautanglish - a Nautanki English. Yes, the official language of this cafe is Nautanglish. And it is very simple to learn. If you run out of word in English: use Nepali word or even translate Neplai exactly into English. Cafe goers will understand, no doubt about that! Let me elaborate what I mean by giving you an example.

For example SNDY opens up the cafe in the morning. A regular grahak would walk in and they greet each other. Then SNDY tells him what happened when she was on her way to work. For example She tells the person next to her that she got speeding ticket that morning. She would then say "no eat no get leather cap wear!". This is exact translation of Nepali ukhan- "khai na pai chaala ko topi lai." Then this translation fever gets into all the cafe goers.

Another one would add to the translation. Let's say Cleo was next to SNDY. She'd have said. Who dares to write me a ticket? She'd end her statement saying: "whose father what vitamin? I am the daughter of lunch carrier!" which means- "kasko bau ko k tagat, ma khandani chori ho.

If Loote follows, he'd say uss ussss ussss to Cleo and would add- "who who where where gone mouse child in the palace?

Then Flipty cannot resist and back up Cleo and backfires at Loote saying- "which bull no horn, that bull horny!" meaning "jun goru ko singh chaina usaiko naam tikhe!

Now there is an issue. Guys and girls are on fire. They would start firing missiles of tukkas at each other. If Captain walks in he'd say to Flipty- "what you need blind?- an eye" - because Capty thinks Flipty is Fulandevi of Cafe N' and always ready to fight.

If TL is to follow next, she'd go like this: "kati kwar kwar garey ko?" La sabai afno afno kaam ma laaga aba! "leaving king's job, attending blacksmith's festival?"- An exact translation of - raaja ko kaam chaadi kaamiko diwali!

If next happens to be hi dai. he'd try to calm down everybody. he'd say- "work talk elsewhere, carrying back pack thimi" Meaning- kaam kuro ekaa tira, kumblo boki thimi tira.

Then everybody would be in harmony. They will talk about movies, songs lunch, crushes, work load and all. By then they would have totally forgotten the Ukhan Tukka fight. All of a sudden one would think about Tukkas again and would start laughing. At that time if someone walks in they would ask him/her to add Tukka.

If that happens to be npl2us he'd go like this- "no work daughter in law, go itch water buffalo son' naval. An exact translation of "kaam painas buhaari padako naito kanya"

But this place rocks. They love each other, they understand each other in all languages. I would not be surprised if they start talking in a sign language. Whatever and however they talk, this place is a stress buster for real!
