There could be many reasons:
1.) Poverty
2.) they do not know underwear.
3.) Peticoats are cheaper than underwear may be.
4.) Peticoats are good enough.
5.) To get fresh air.
6.) Less clothes to clean.
7.) Less hassle during urgency...
 so on and so on.............

Kuhire...since you saw so many of them..why didnt you ask them yourself? Since you noticed so many females not wearing underwear in villages. You were there for 2 years!! how many villages did you notice these? How many people? And where in Nepal?

Your curiosity and the way you come to public forum and ask such a question doesnt look good.

Ramprasadneupane thanks for your poem. That makes me feel very special.
Sachokura, you are probably right that my ancestors did not wear underwear but that was like thousand years ago, you surely are not trying to compare my ancestors from thousand years back to current Nepalese women.

I could have asked them but I did not because I did not want to offend them. It could be a religous thing so I did not want to ask anyone directly. That is why I posted here. I like ananta's answers.

Maalpani, I can't understand what mr. syanjali wrote. If you can explain or translate then I can benefit from it. Thanks in advance.

Kan, I can barely speak nepali but i understand the word "goola" and so whatever you said can't be flattering

During my two years stay in Nepal, I mostly met nice people in villages and cities who show extra hospitability and respect for Kuhires. In villages the men show a certain reverence which is very flattering. However, in the cities, most men think they can get laid easily with white girls. I was told by my Nepali girlfriends that Nepali men watch a lot of pornographic movies that is why they think it's easy to get laid with white girls.

In dealing with quite a few Nepali boys and men who were offensive and lewid at best, I came to the following conclusions

- most nepali men are sex starved. I suppose that's how the society is. Sex is a taboo. You people should open up a bit more. I was impressed by the Namrata video. There is some hope for these sex starved lewid men who can't think of anything but sex because they don't get any

- most nepali men have a tiny weener as I have witnessed from my health camp experience. This may be the reason why they have a huge inflated ego to cover up the size of their miniscule masculinity.

- They are constantly trying to outsmart each other or trying to ridicule others whenever they get a chance. Even when they collaborate on a project, each one is constantly trying to bring others down or make fun of others. How can you hope to achieve something productive collaboratively if you are constantly at each others throat?

I have always talked with my Nepali girlfriends and they all think the same way. This kind of mentality is what's bitter and sad about such a beautiful country.

Kuhire: Haha.. Interesting observations..

Agreed people in the east have very stereotypical view of western women or sex in the west. They tend to think it's more liberal than it really is. Porn has some part to play in it but it's more how the media in general portrays the western society in a country like Nepal. But to be fair, such views are not unique to Nepal. It's more like much of South Asia and other parts of the world where the interaction with the west is limited to the tourists, porn and local media.

I don't blame you for being irritated by many presumptious remarks made about you here in this thread. I guess this led you to draw some very general conclusions about Nepali men. You may be wrong to view everyone in the same light.

Kuhire ji,
Namaste,
The question you raised is very good but I personally haven't experience this situation. But based on your writing somehow I have a feeling that you are lying something. Your writing just before my post made feel that you are no other then nepali with indian mentality.

I hope you will change yourself since you also have some sort of stereotype attitude.

God bless you !!!

He Khuire;
  • - Women do not have balls they have vagina and no need to restrain like the pen*s. They do not need to warm like you do "in real life we male have to keep balls warm in winter because they get cold fast as ears do".

Syanjali, guess what? suvachintak1 is so right about not dealing with stupid people.

Do you know that your response is still in page 1 of this thread? I guess you are too stupid to know that.

Look for where it says

Because women wear Peticot as  underwear in some part of Nepal.
Underwear can be in any shape & size. It doesnt have to be necessarely like the modern one that people wear these days.
Petikot is someway easy for them coz they can pee anytime they want in standing position.
