Missouri City Store Clerk Murdered During Convenience Store Robbery
by Bob Dunn

A Missouri City convenience store clerk was shot with a rifle and killed during a robbery Sunday night.

Bhattarai Ashok, 21, of Houston, was found dead next to the cash register at about 10:10 p.m. at the First Stop Food Store, at 2563 Cartwright Road. Police arrived after receiving a call that a man was down at the store.

A police spokesman said Ashok had been shot to death. Surveillence video Missouri City Police detectives obtained showed a black man about 5 feet, 10 inches tall wearing a do-rag opened the door to the store and fired a rifle, striking Ashok.

The assailant then walked over to a safe that Ashok had just opened, pulled out about $5,000 in cash and walked out, police reports said.

The police spokesman said a second clerk was in the cooler re-stocking the store while the shooting and robbery occurred, and apparently didn't hear anything.

"We're looking at the videos - not only from last night, but during the whole day," in hopes of more information, the police spokesman said. The case is being treated as a homicide investigation.

Ashok's family, from the Dallas area, was informed of his death Monday morning.

Well,

Really a heart breaking news again. This time, more painful also because  i knew him personally. He first ame to University of Central Oklahoma at edmond, OK and then transfered to houston. WE worked together in the college canteen for the social security and he was very cool guy. I found him very hard working and studious too. I still remember the day i met him at central bank in Nepal to prepare draft for $ before coming to US and he was with his dad. we talked there for sometime. And hearing such news made me really shoked.

May his soul rest in peace in heaven.

Missouri may count this as an number increase in no of homside, but for all nepalese and esp for his family it's really a sad news and it even hurts when the victim is so young and and in the wrong place. May his soul rest in peace and may god give the strength to his family to cope with this devestation.

We all know this is not the first incident yet we are so helpless we have no way out risking ourselves as odd hour. When one dies as such, that's all he had to loose and he lost it but just think about what will happen to your family without you. I am sure anyone in family cannot get through it permanently whether you financially support or don't support  them.

Though death is certain, I guess it's not the way anyone wants. Lets try our best to work in safe place and safe hours even though that means sheding some dollars from our income. For those working in unsafe conditions please think once again........NOTHING IS AS PRECIOUS AS YOUR LIFE.

It is really tragic to hear this one more time. May his family bear the tragedy with strength and his soul rest in Peace. I know the life of texas where you have no options to work except Gas station. I Remember Working in Gas station in Texas where i was robbed at gun point. I was scared to death and i had  zero expectation that I would live in that night. So all friends, Be careful, try to give everything to robber whatever he asks.
