Naam ni khatepate kaam ni khatepate jasto gardai chau ni bro !

Who said anything abut the Indian team you moron ? We are talking about the mainstay of Indian team and not the team itself. Mind you, Tendulkar did not bitch about changing the umpire. Whats the friggin connection between greatness of Sachin with Indian team being a bitch. Its easily possible to like Sachins game and not be an Indian team supporter you moron. !

>> Tendy  got more oppertunities thats why he has record.....and he never quits coz he is greedy and never give young players a chance.  I dont mean he isnt good but comon if he is there for these many yrs  these record are nothing, Anyone can surpass him.<<

So just by giving opportunity one can perform ? How do you come to that conclusion Mr Genius ? Yes, he has played a lot of cricket, but that dont mean records come by itself. You gotta perform, and Sachin has. Rahyo sawaal, being greedy ko, well, Sachin would be the first one to let go of his position if he sees anyone half as good as he is in that position. No doubt about it !!

Khatepate mula pani kasto l@d0 jasto kura garchau yaar. Do you even know what bandwagon fan means? Who's talking about the positions of Indian and Aussie cricket team in here? We are talking about Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar - the little master, the greatest ever after Don Bradman ( greatest ever for me ). Mula Cricket ta herne garya chau? Ponting and Hayden are better than Tendulkar re. 2001 dekhi cricket herna thalya ho ki ke ho?

Mero first post herana. Lara, Inzamam, De Silva, Waugh, Hayden, Dravid, Ganguly, Hussey, Vaughn, Smith, Kirsten ... kati aye kati gaye..Tendulkar jasto chahin koi ni hunna bhanya bujhinna? Who on earth is talking abt Aussie cricket team in here? 99 ko World cup dekhi Australian team ko fan bha jasto chau ni. Wait - I seriously hope you aren't a Chelsea fan! And a Michael Schumacher, and a Roger Federer and Patriots and Spurts fan!!! Wait..almost forgot Brazil!

Just take a notice of the ovation that Tendulkar is getting in Australia, not just by the Indians but by the Aussies themselves. Ask a top class Aussie batsman, who do they think is the greatest of this era, Lara, Ponting, Waugh, Hayden? No sir, It is our Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar!

I wonder where  did the not-so-bidhwan bidhan420 disappear! Prolly hiding under his couch in Europe!

sachin biggest after sir don. hahaha.  Sachin isnt fit enough to tie the boot of brain lara. Who is sachin. A batsman whose one double century started with zimbabwe and ended with Bangladesh and that too not out to bloat his average. Lara never hit double century against minnows.

Forget about it.  Brain lara is colossus figure. His records are not built up by playing 100 s and 100s of test matches. He retired from test cricket on high with a double hundred and a hundred plus a demolition of the bowler for 26 runs in one over. Lara could have played for few more years and still would have scored heavily.

If lara plays similar number of test to sachin you can almost guarantee he will end up having similar records, centuries and runs.  However, even after playing million years sachin cannot gurantee he can break the record of 400, 375, or 28 runs in an over, or 26 runs in an over.  Thats where the difference between two players lies.

If tendulkar fan are so myopic that they dont even regard ponting then it is baseless to argue with them now. Because even by playing a lot less matches ponting record is better than tendulkar.

The way I evaluate greatness is how someone has inspired the newer generation to be like him. I think its very obvious that more children (regardless of country) play cricket with a dream to become a Sachin Tendulkar than a Ponting or a Lara. In that sense, Sachin has added more excitement to the game than anyone else.
Even before Sachin, India had great players like Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar, but its only after Sachin came to the game, that Cricket became a religion in India. Just look at the standing ovation the Australian crowd is giving to Sachin every single time Dravid is out.
Sachin is human, and he fails certainly. But he is someone Ricky Ponting dreams about.

>> Sachin is human, and he fails certainly. But he is someone Ricky Ponting dreams about. << I love that statement dude. Thats the best I have heard !!

no_queer_oh,

Sachin reminded Sir Don of himself. Do u not know that ? Oh wait, someone did mention u started watching cricket after Aussies 99 win, innit ? So in that regards, Sachin is the biggest after the Sir himself !!! Well, 375 and 400 I give you. Lara did well to get them, but what does 28 or 26 mean these days ? Didn't Yuvraj Singh of all people hit 6 6s recently ?

lol, you make me laugh !! and laugh hard !!!!!!

truth be told, i am not a fan of indian cricket team and it's not just for the sake of disliking something which belongs to "india"  or a mere product of the subconscious anti-indian sentiment which most of us "gurkhey" nepalese tend to possess. when i started watching cricket, my first impression of the indian cricket team, if put directly, was a "bunch of losers" who aren't able to win games that's there for the taking, who choke big time under pressure and not to mention a team which has adequate talent but heart of a chicken - a gutless team which easily succumb under pressure more often than not. the impression remained so for a long, long time.

with the injection of young blood and much to the liking of the fans of the game across the globe, things are changing with indian cricket team these days. the young guns have added much vibrancy and passion and a hunger for win/good performance to the team which was lacking for the most part over the years.

why am i even saying all this?

well, i have seen and felt, and the trend is similar here in sajha too, that most of the anti-tendulkar people are so because they are anti-india. personally speaking, as a big fan of the game, i envy tendulkar. i have always liked him. someone who started his career when he was barely 16, who played in some of the toughest series for a newly bred cricketer against the then big giants in his early years, who played a pivotal role of a "one-man-dependent-team" for a considerable number of years in the nineties, and now after 17 years of an illustrating career, still going good, man, you've got to give credits to the master if you are true admirer of the game.

highs and lows are parts and parcel of life, let alone cricket. sure, tendulkar has gone through rough patches in his career but who hasn't? it's not a joke playing for the country where cricket is a religion, where people worship and regard players as demi-gods when they perform and burn their effigies when they fail to deliver, where media is ever vigilant against bleak performances, where critiques watch each player as a specimen under their own microscopes. tendulkar has shined against all odds in more occasions. what's more the guy is humble, down to earth and a very nice genltleman.

i don't believe in comparing legends of the game. it's so freakin unfair. more so for class players with the likes of tendulkar or lara who've time and again played quality cricket and raised the bar of the game.  however, on few occasions, comparisons are inevitable especially when the choice you have is tough. in my eyes, and i am equally big or perhaps bigger fan of lara, both tendulkar and lara are masters of the game-- true champions. however, if i have to choose between the two, and this is strictly my own choice, i will go for lara. i don't think i have seen a bigger batsman than him at least in our era and at least in test cricket. tendulkar is also there, but boy lara has played some gem of innings and most importantly has helped his team win from nowhere. tendulkar on the other hand has faltered when his team needed him the most. of all the hundreds he has made, there are only few which have led india to a victory and in crunch situation. playing great and playing good under pressure are two different things.

ricky ponting (although no quiero is mostly right about him being the most dominating player for the last 4/5 years) or inzi or  hayden or dravid or gibbs are also great players but not in the same league as tendulkar or lara IMHO.

that's my long commentary worth 2 cents.

Despite slight contradiction, I agree with what LOOTEKUKUR mentioned...Yes, there are always highs and lows in anyone's career...However, I prefer Tendulkar to Lara but that does not mean Lara is not good...Hats off to Lara, one of the best player but personally records are records...its the history for the future generation and Obviously, Sachin has more records than lara....Believe me, I do not want to compare these two players coz I believe both of them are the gems of the cricket world...Both of them have their own style of game and both of them seem unstoppable when they are at their best...Sachins's advantage over Lara, personally thinking, is he bowls...man he has lot of ODIs wickets which proves more precious than Lara or Pointing or Hayden ......However, Pointing, Hayden, Gibbs and many others are not yet fit to put in Sachin's and Lara's positions....They are way below these two batsmen...

pyaari keti,
i have no objection on your preference of tendulkar over lara. it's your personal take. my preference is mostly based on test cricket performance. tendulkar used to be undeniably the no. 1 player in ODIs but that's history now and he had to do some catching up with lara in test cricket and he's still not there. yes he bowls but then again how many test wickets he has taken?

to each his own and i rest my case there :D

Pyari kt. First of all dont bring records in here. I can present more records of Lara than sachin in test cricket. Secondly you said about sachin taking wickets. But then even lara is no 2  or 3 in record number of catches in test cricket and sachin is far behind.

Just compare one on one century of Lara with tendulkar you will see a hugh daylight between the difference of innings. Tendulkar who is playing last test in Australia has made 153. But on the same ground Brain lara played his last test in Australia where he scored 216 run to break the record of Allan Border.

My rating of the batsman of this generation will  be ,

1. Lara

2. Ponting

3. Sachin

However, I strongly believe that by the time Ponting ends his career he may  have proved to be better batsman than Lara.

Tendulkar has a better technique. Lara is more flashy. Lara is more attacking, Tendulkar is more consistent. Warne calls Tendulkar the best and Murali calls Lara the best. CO-incidently both players took the same no. of innings to get to 10,000 runs. Wisden listed Tendulkar at no.2 on the all time list in Tests and one-dayers. His conduct on the field has been exemplary. In my book Tendulkar is the best.

Loote bro, I couldn't have said better!!  Good analysis man.  Tendulkar and Lara can be mentioned in the same breath, but for peeps to compare him to recent superstars who still have years to continually prove themselves is total BS.  Its about time we gave him the respect he deserves.  BTW, great inning from  the Lil Master who just has 337 runs to go before he bests Lara's record.  Another feather in the cap for the glorified son of India!

I can definitely show wisden have put 3 of lara innnings in top 15 innings of all time.  Sachin have none in top 100 .

Just got to show most of the sachin innings lack in quality to be in the top 100.  And of course all time innings are not chosen by 1-2 players but a group of over 100 people considering every situations in the match.

Spoiled ji, you said warne said Sachin is best.  But there is difference between saying and showing.  If you forget it was Lara not sachin because of whom  Shane warne was Contemplating Retirement after 1999 series in Westindies . Lara dented confidence out  shane warne to an extent he was planning retirement before the 1999 world cup.

And of course world knows  Lara is the best batsman against the spinners because of his ability to dominate the spinners on a consistent basis.
