I wish him very good luck and may he achieve his goal. But I don't think that he can help me to change unless I'm ready. If I'm really ready to change, I don't even have to wait for anyone to liberate me or change me.

Buddism is a practice for someone to follow and Buddism is a also a path for someone to discover so is nirvana.
Will someone be a buddist and not follow buddist tradition? I think the answer is Yes. Buddha defied tradition!
I rest my case!!!

Buddhism is not what buddha wanted. He might not even have any idea what buddhism means. He was against idol worship or all sorts of things. But buddhism does have those. Buddha probably created Sangha, not as organized religion, but as the mass of people with common interest who can be in discipline and can help each other and the society. But being limited to all these, even to the meditational technique, will never lead to enlightenment. Mastery of some meditational technique doesn't mean that he has been enlightenment. He has passed one stage, and for some that stage might not even be necessary.

Amen Shiv!!!
Buddhism is as vast as ever expanding cosmos.
Buddha always emphasized the rational pursuit of truth."He instructed his disciples to critically judge his words before accepting them. He always advocated reason over blind faith.

Understood.
Buddha never said that he is spreading religion or his teachings are new. Buddha was against tradition, the bad ones, which had engulfed the region at that time.
The change only happens when you want to.
I am not concerned about the boys religion or how he is portrayed!
I am not looking for a messiah to save the world or to save me, either.
I do have an open mind and looking forward to what might develop out of this boy. May be he will be the Buddha we are all want him to be or he will be lost in the media hype and publicity, is yet to be seen!!

What differentiate buddha's teachings from other religion is that he lets you doubt on his own teachings. For example, in christianity or in hinduism, you can be forgiven for any other sin if you regret for it. But you'll definitely go to hell and never will be forgiven if you've doubt over your own god. I watched a documentary about it few weeks ago and it really amazed me.

But buddha asks you to doubt and analyse before accepting anything blindly.

I am not here to defend Buddhism, my knowledge does not allow me to do so. As far as I am concerned Hinduism and Buddhism has a thin separating line which will dissolve once you study Advaita Vedanta. Buddha is worshipped in all Hindu homes as the 10th incarnation of Vishnu. We can pound our heads and point the differences in both or all religions, rather I would look into the similarities. I will look for the identical philosophy, teachings rather than the differing ones. Again I am no literary in this matter but thats how I learn.

That's what I'm pointing out. In my opinion, worshipping buddha is like insulting him. I watched Mr. S.N. Goenka's prabachan in kathmandu. He belongs to orthodox marwardi hindu family (according to him). He was told that it's okey to worship buddha, but he was told never to listen or read to his teachings by even a mistake. It amazed me again. I don't have anything to say. I'm neither here to defend buddism too. Everyone has their right to believe in what they want, provided they don't harm or hurt other's religion. But we can discuss here if we're interested to find what is truth rather than what is buddhist religion or what is hindu religion or trying to find similarity or differences between them.

Sometimes family refrains from certain books for a reason. I was not allowed to read Geeta when I was a boy!!
I was allowed to go to the temple listen to kathas but never allowed to read Geeta. Can you believe that?? This does not mean that my family did not believe in Geeta. Everyone worshipped it and read it but a little boy was not allowed to read it. When I asked later, after I grew a little and started high school my mother told me about someone (distant relative) read Geeta when he was little and it affected him so much that became a monk later on in his life and no one wanted me to be a monk.
It is not discrimination or anything like that they are only looking out for you in their own way even though we might not agree.

Some one asked Buddha what is the Truth?

He answered:
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
(complete silence)
The question made him smile but he did not say a word. I wonder??

This is same story like Snake in Pashupati area many years ago by Dhirendra Shah and his corrupted gang members. Finally people came to know it was a fake snake which was growing as "Chana aka gorvanjo beans" started growing in water. Gyanendra is trying to create all kinds of confusion on people by making 15 year old incarnation of Budhha. Because he tells people that he is the incarnation of Bishnu.

Come on people don't waste your time in Gyane's another move to divert the feeling of people towards divine power which would lead his own protection as the Incarnation of Bishnu. If Gyane is God what might happen to Hinduism and his followers. don't we know him already?

The new discovery from associated press headlined "Nepal Boy Called Reincarnation of Buddha"states:
Officers have not directly questioned the boy, who appears deep in meditation and doesn't speak.

"We have a team ... investigating the claim on how anyone can survive for so long without food and water," Gurung said.

Local officials have also asked the Royal Nepal Academy of Science and Technology in Katmandu to send scientists to examine Banjan.

Mahat said visitors can catch a glimpse of Banjan from a roped-off area about 80 feet away from him between dawn and dusk.

Followers then place a screen in front of him, blocking the view and making it impossible to know what he is doing at night, Mahat said.

"We could not say what happens after dark," Mahat said. "People only saw what went on in the day, and many believed he was some kind of god."

This is utter nonsense.Blindfaith at its mount everest.
It's a HOAX.
May Boddhisattva pardon our ignorance.

think this is a set up. why wouldn't they let the boy be seen during the night? think the boy is taken home for basic needs during the night and brought to the aasan early in the morning...and this cycle is replayed everyday that is why the boy is alive. just my 2 cents worth of opinion formed at cursory glance of this saga.

Too Much Media Interference. If He is Doing Meditation, They Souldn't Distract The Kid. The Physical World People Would Not Understand All Those Spritual Stuffs. Let Ram Be The Buddha If Time Has Come.

Here is our new Budhha's picture, courtsey of a nepali online newspaper. His eyes are not visible, possibly covered by his long hair. Anyway, here he is.

After reading about this phenomenon and watching the news coverage on it on Star News, I do not think the boy ever called himself a Buddha or claims to be one. This is a label others have thrust on him. If people worship him thinking he is a Buddha, so be it. This is a matter of people?s faith.

We have seen thousands of middle class and upper middle class married women following some Hindu sadhus / babas and cults all over Nepal and India. And the government actually encourages that and subsidizes their activities. Throws oodles of rupees at such institutions in the belief that strengthening Hindu institutions / cults / sadhus from all over the Indian subcontinent will strengthen the institution of monarchy, since King is believed to be an incarnation of a Hindu God.

And when some chap from a Janjati community suddenly starts attracting a following, and that, too, as a Buddha incarnation, then the Hindu state suddenly has problems with that. See the double standard?

I think the government that has lost all legitimacy and RONAST should keep out of this. This is a matter of people?s faith.

Fact of the matter is by attracting such a huge following, this relatively innocuous phenomenon has generated a flurry of economic activity and contributed to local livelihoods, which is more than the government has ever done for this area or [possibly] ever will.

Om Mani Padme Hum....
