ok jsut posting a new thread.
there is a mentality in nepal that people think a foreign degree from us,uk,aus or basically is better then the nepalese degree, similar to people having a mentality about science commerce and arts.
i have always wondered why is a foreign degree so much highly rated for professional as well as social purpose.wherever you study be it nepal or be it bhutan or aus ,you have to work hard to get a degree and whatever they teach you , say for example in economics in bhutan ,they teach the same to you in aus as well as us of a.say for example( i dont know about science hai.........) the theory of relativity is same all over the world.
now why do people go to this foriegn lands to learn many of the subjects that are easily available in our country.is it really for the "degree" or is the degree a secondary matter?
well it is understandable for people to go abroad for some very specailized subjects like rocket science or neuclear thing and also for some real high education but for ssubjects that are available in our universities which are as good as any university's program.
also for example say computer science, why not india?casue i think india is as good as any place for computer science if not better but why is every body wanting to go to usa for that !!!!!!!!!!!!!
so i have always wondered is it the foriegn degree people are genuinly pursuing or is it the foreign land???????

Mr. thanap, I am not putting down any of the nepalese but I am surprised by your mentality. I have done all kinds of work from lowest to the highest for your information. And I know first hand how it feels. My point is, if u never dream of being somewhere even if u are happy or not then u will always be in the same position. My perspective is to work hard and get what u want instead of giving up!! If u come to US and will be happy being a sweeper all your life then what can I say! I think majority would like to be successful or at least somehow make some progress. I think u should take advantage of the opportunities here instead of doing same stuff that you won't be respected for. I would never be here without my aim and determination to be successful, same is true with most of my nepalese friends.......YES definitely it would be harder but u got to it sweat off a little to get what u want!

Look Mahakaal. I have done it all kiddo. I have graduated from nepali college and even looked for jobs and have even worked. Boy that was a big mess! I was making my point to Kaalebhoot" that there is a vast difference between the college in US and Nepal. Yes, students there also has to work hard but don't get enough resources, good teachers and extra curriculars like here! They work hard but don't get opportunities and credentials they deserve. And yes majority of nepali students don't know what they want to do because they are sooo pressured. In nepal everybody has to be a doctor, engineer or something that the student might not have any interest on!! If u pass on first division, your parents expect u to go to good school and get a degree but nobody ask u about "WHAT DO U REALLY WANNA BE?" And about the jobs situation, I know most of my friends have good degrees there but their jobs are snatched by somebody who doesn't have enough experience. JOBLESS! What do call that? It is loud and clear that people always try to get their whole troop of cousins through corruption......and let's not even talk about cast system in the work!! What do u think of this mess?

so you have been to a nepali college and also worked thats good.so,you didnt get books and good teachers aye.did you ever go to a library???????????? now dont blufff me just to prove your one dimensional perspective.
ani yeah there are a few cases of people putting pressure to pursue some course but i dont think and i dont know abything a damn alike people not giving bout what you really wanna do or really pressurizing you to do something you dont wanna do......but you are a budi lady so that was a different time so i dont know about that.
hahaha and either you watch a lot of nepali/hindi movies or you lsitent to a lot of gossips.corruption is there no doubt about that but its not to an extent that people jsut put their bhai bhatija and blah balh and kick your friends out of the job.for a budi aimai you that is a lit too rubbish talking.so what do you think ,ok considering your word majority, 51%of the job holders are holding thier job becasue of being somebody of somebody right.
ali ali resources ko kami, extra ccurriculum ko kami that is true that is true tara please dont show a vast difference in the value of the degree and the effort you put to get it as well as the please dont try to show a vast difference in quality.you graduated in a certain faculty from a us universty that dont make you any superior or better in that \field than the student of nepal, bhutan or indonesia ,the only difference will be you ll most probably have a better english and you ll have seeen a thing or two more thats it

foreign degree does nt mean everything. there are good schools in nepal too. i am sure, one will learn a lot in some good nepali schools than average mediocre usa schools. had our nepali education was not equivalent to US education, US schools would not have accepted us in their undergrad, grad program. we can not compare PhD from nepali schools with PhD from US schools, but for high school and undergrad, nepali education is very much competitive. this is my experience and many of my friends experience. we did our high school and undergrad in nepal and did masters here. the school where i did my undergrad had sufficient books in library unlike here in usa where i need to buy expensive text books. but if we talk about graduate or higher studies, which requires a lot of research and funding and very good professors, nepal is way behind.

"we can not compare PhD from nepali schools with PhD from US schools, but for high school and undergrad, nepali education is very much competitive."

Broda what r ya talking about, Nepal has PhD only in Nepali language, Sanskrit, I need to check. So we need to come abroad if we want to do our doctorate thesis.

"High school and undergrad. Nepali education is very competitive", is it????? One of my fren wanted to study in St. Mary's, she's kinda rich, the monthly fee is only Rs. 400 but they wanted a 20,000 donation (mind u, u HAVE TO give the donation to get admitted). She landed up going to MIS. I don't know about competitive, but I have heard being asked about tons of DONATIONS if u r loaded.

If schools in Nepal are sooooooooo good, then why do they give jobs to ppl who have a foreign degree???? U can mince my words, say stuff but can't change the facts.

They give jobs to people with foreign degrees because they somehow have this wrong perception that people with foreign degrees are always better than people with Nepal-learned degree. Such a shame.

Hopefully, the employers will realize this soon and provide opportunities to individuals regardless of where they graduated from.

sister, you surely need to check. TU has Phd program in many fields. when i say competitve, i did not mean that its very competitive to get into certain schools, rather our high school and undergraduate degree are competitive enough to match the us education. at least i beleive so because i did my undergrad and high school in nepal. please check out google or someother webpage and see how many faculties have PhD program in TU. regarding getting job, it is same everywhere, if you know person, you will get it.

I apologise South, TU indeed does have PhD programs in many fields, my bad...
http://www.tribhuvan-university.edu.np/degree.php
I was told it has only one program.

NO its not the same everywhere about getting a job, as far as I have seen, if u have internship experience and u apply, u gets jobs fairly easily, and NO u don't need to know ppl to get internships, higher GPA will do the trick.

Okie Mahakaal....... u might think I am that buddi and hence u are being disrespectful but I am not that buddi.. I am in 25 and have done it all. Unless u are 12 years old! If u think both degrees from and US are same then try to use your degree in other countries........ they won't even look at it. WHY ON EARTH WOULD PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD WANNA STUDY IN US THAN NEPAL?????? And yes it is the known fact that I didn't get enough material nor the support from my teachers...... how the hell can they help if there are 60-70 students in a class?? And not enough modern computers or equipments? Maybe u don't have enough experience in the work field so therefore u don't have a clue how much corruption goes on there!! Yes I am a very politically aware person and I am very much involved in politics (especially women's rights here) too therefore I know a lot that goes on in nepali work field too obviously!! I don't waste my time watching 3 hrs of indian movie. NOBODY HAVE SUCH A TIME TO WASTE HERE BUDDY! NO TIME TO GOSSIP ABOUT NONSENSE LIKE THERE!

I think if Nepal's education was that great then why can't the US colleges accept the credits to transfer? U have to start all over again at the undergraduate level even if u have almost finished B.A and M.A in Nepal ! Meanwhile, they accept the same credit from EUROPE and JAPAN??

first and foremost you didnt have the time to gossip about nonsense so thank you for spending your valuable time typing those words in capital letters.
there is nothing disrespectful i said ,casue you siad you did your degree in nepal and then went to a cad college and then to a good college andn finished it and then started your job so that takes quite a time.hence so i htought you were a budi.nepal ma degree 3 barsa ya say 2 barsa nai us ko arko college ani 4 yrs ,if i am not mistaken, you should had passed your slc when you were 12-13.well thats another matter.
exactly thats the thing nepal ko degree lai us ma bhau dinna i know that.nepal ko degreee is not very useful to get a job there and many other places, similarly us ko degree is the same in say germany or belgium or denmark (unless its basically an americanozed company)you knwo what i mean.thats true it has no value in the us but that doesnt mean that the person is not qulaified or inferior or didnt work hard.they dont its true for example say canada they rarely give a darn to your american degree or say france.so does that make you lesser then a frenchie????
well its true that i dont have enough experience in the work field but i didnt finish my slc at 12.and yeah politics and to an extent you being a womenist or what its called yeah feminist you see politics everywere even in a tarkari bajar.you didnt get the support from your teachers well thats not a known fact to me.i got enough suport from my teachers and for modern equipments well thats true it was not very accesible in the campus.but nonetheless jsut not having a computer you cant hold that as a very big isssue.there are colleges i presume you must know it very well where you have to have a laptop so does that make it the best college?ie in one had in nepal you dont have computers and in the other hand in say us there is a necessity and an extensive use of computers so does that make it the worst and the best????????and please dont complain about books cause thats utterly nonsense.you must know in nepal the colleges are basically for some specific faculty and if you go to shankerdev campus liibrary and expect a book in rocket science then i dont know.
yes its true nepali colleges dont have a course for neuclear physics or some very funky specialied area and in that yes we have no competiton with us of a,but for the rest you jsut cant say nepali degree is inferior or for that matter a bhutanese degree

and yeah they do accept a european or a japanese degree cause they are from europe and japan and not from the third world.
an african doctor can treat an american patient in africa well and good but he cant pratice his skill in america.so what does that mean???????the doctor is bad or the doctor is not qualified...

Hey sweetpie "WHY ON EARTH WOULD PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD WANNA STUDY IN US THAN NEPAL" what the hell that suppose to indicate? are u pointing finger on entire Nepali yuva Yuvati..tell u what i was given a option my dad to study in university of northern carolina and switzerland. I choose switzerland.By the way US is the last and least nation i want to go. My dad being a business man, he suffer traveling to argentina. He had to spend 3 hours in small room during transit period for stupid reason. Listen, nepal has good facility as well, if u ask the present Nepali yuva Yuvati in nepal then u will know " how much they prefer to stay in nepal" timi katinai lokendra bahadur ko chori bhaye pani US maa gaye pachi Kaam garnai parcha. It is better for them to stay in home and study there.
We all have seen life who has studied in Foreign but we do know we learn lot of cultural exchange, languages. We turn in mulit culture. We have to make Nepal where our kid can get same what we got in Foreign. If u talking about gossiping " tyo ta nepali ko bani nai huncha" i am sure in dayoff or when over u visit u r fren" you do for sure talk JHUMRE GUFF" GUMRA HERDAI GARNE GUFF, jUST A UKHAN. I am sure u dont work like robert 24/7.

Jai Nepal
