Prashant voters need to spread all over the country atleast 2-3 days before to vote for him. Even the phone lines clogged in one, two places, we need to make sure he gets the votes from other places. So, please spread around for the final.

@mta
actually who is going to spread
all of us here are at US rooting for prashant and i guess it will help for those who reads these posts
but the main thing is the voters themselves need to be involved in this
people in darjelling, sikkim and other places are doing this
now prashant needs more dedicated people like those of darjelling from like nepal india boarders, other parts of india, UK, singapore,Middle east etc (nothing else can help him).
THE FIRST AND FOREMOST THING IS MONEY, A LOT OF MONEY NEEDS TO BE DRAINED IN PHONE AND SMS. the main strategy can now be collect a large fund and give it to the dedicated people to the areas from where they can vote.
At least we can pass around our relatives and friends in those areas and suggest them to vote for prashant.

I just read that 6 contestants are coming in Ktm to rock but common people we need that money to make Prashant the winner. So, anybody who is serious about Prashat, please don't waste money for 6 contestants instead go to india2-3 days ahead to buy sms or phone cards and vote for him. It will be much more fulfulling than wasting money for eliminated 6 contestants. Pls, use that money to vote for Prashant. Prashant needs us more than ever. Please be wise and spend the money wisely.

The country is set to
rock with six 'Indian Idol' contestants.

On Friday, Ankita,
Chang, Charu, Deepali, Parleen and 17-year-old wonder boy Emon, who
made it to the top three before exiting the show last week, will arrive
in Kathmandu for two power-packed shows that are expected to be runaway
successes.

The contestants remain hugely popular in both India
and Nepal despite being voted out of Sony Television channel's gripping
talent hunt show.

Sponsored by Mero Mobile, Nepal's first private
company to offer cell phone services, the six, who captured the fancy
and hearts of viewers in India, Nepal, Dubai, Singapore and even
London, will hold a three-hour show at a football ground in temple city
Patan Saturday, followed by a more exclusive soiree at the posh Soaltee
Crowne Plaza hotel Sunday.

Keeping in mind the immense popularity
of the show in Nepal, Kathmandu's event management company DMI, which
has pulled off the entertainment coup, has decided to cater to both the
upmarket clientele as well as the masses.

For the football ground
show, the tickets are priced at Nepali Rs.399 while the Soaltee
concert, complete with dinner, will cost Rs.3,500 per head.

The 'Icons and Idols' show will also feature two pop stars from Nepal, Nima Rumba and Anil Singh.

DMI
chief Raju Singh, a well known DJ in Nepal, however, says the credit
for the idea actually goes to another event manager who three years ago
brought Abhijit Sawant, the first Indian Idol, to sing in Kathmandu.

'However,
this will be the first - and the last time - that the six Idol
contestants will be on the same stage together,' Singh told IANS
cryptically.

'I don't know what's going to happen to them afterwards but this was something Sony told me.'

DMI,
which monitors Nepal's entertainment pulse keenly to keep abreast of
what's in and what's out, decided to bring the six singers for the
ultimate party in Nepal.

'There's an 'Indian Idol' craze in
Kathmandu,' Singh told IANS. 'Everyone is watching the show on
television and everyone knows who they are. We chose the six on the
basis of their popularity.

'We had to wait till the top two were
chosen since the contract with Sony doesn't allow the contestants to
participate in anything else as long as they are still contesting.'

Singh also has plans to organise a concert featuring Prasant Tamang, the obscure young policeman from Kolkata who has now become a household name as well as the icon of the Nepali-speaking diaspora after clawing his way to the top five

SET: Voting public to be blamed for bad singers coming in Indian Idol

Sony Entertainment Television is strongly denying the rumours going around that there is some rigging going in Indian Idol voting process. An offical source said, "We have a reputed third party organization which audits the voting process, which is very fair. People are wrongly blaming us for Emon's and Chang's Ouster, You don't vote for the right singer, and then cry about a lesser person coming ahead. Prashant has a sizable number of people in his home area and the police force who are voting en block , so he is winning."

The source went on, "Don't the judges (Alisha wanted to walk out ) also complain about audiences voting pattern? Although Emon was a good singer, we alway knew that he will be out, because he did not have required public support."

On the question of making the vote figures public, our source said, "The format( Indian idol is international format) does not allow for the same . And secondly, if we do give the voting figures, will it not affect the next rounds result?". Taking a dig at the opposition, the source further went on to say that both those shows(Sa Re Gama SVOI) are homegrown and could have had the judges saving the contestants( which we cannot do, due to above format restriction) , but even then they prefer to ape us.

When reminded that something similar had happened during Qazi victory in Fame Gurukul2, the source empathetically denied any wrong doing even then too. "We Indian's like the underdog and support him, hence Qazi came ahead.. So please vote for your favorite contestant rather then just crib."

Hill parties to back idol

Darjeeling, Sept. 11: Prashant Tamang’s run up to the final of Indian Idol has turned into a movement in the hills, uniting political rivals in the process.

Such is the fervour that posters had appeared in Kurseong yesterday seeking explanations for the silence of political parties on the issue.

The GNLF today called an emergency meeting in Darjeeling today to decide on its strategy. The meeting was attended by Deepak Gurung, I.N. Pradhan and Dawa Pakhrin, the presidents of the Darjeeling, Kurseong and Kalimpong branch committees, along with senior GNLF leaders like Gopimaya Gurung, Roshan Rai and Bhakta Jairu.

“It has been decided that all our councillors will mobilise support for Prashant. The meeting has been held on directions from Subash Ghisingh who has sent us a message,” said Deepak Gurung.

Ghisingh’s statement reads: “If any son or daughter like Prashant goes outside (Darjeeling) and upholds our name in any field I will be the first one to be happy. My best wishes and blessings are there for Prashant.”

ABGL president Madan Tamang issued a statement urging the people to be united for Prashant’s cause. CPRM leader D.S. Bomzom has also appealed to the people to vote for the local boy.

The apolitical All Gorkha Students’ Union has appealed to the Assam-based All Bodo Students’ Union and the All Jharkhand Students’ Union to help make Prashant the next Indian Idol.

Hi Deep, I like the way u write.
anyways, i had a thing or two to say. true...bange le aafu bangali bhane pani bhartiya hune bhane nepali le pani nepali bhane bhartiya hunu parchha.
desi haru ko kura garda nepal ka nepali le sara bhartiya haru lai desi, dhoti, kaale (and all those names that r used to call indians) bhanera bolauna milchha bhane bhartiya nepali haru lai kina tyahi naam le bolauna na milne...r they not indians enough?
however, you do talk a lot of sense...at the end of the day, it's to be remembered that he is participating in "Indian Idol" and not "Nepali Idol". Perhaps, Kolkata/Bengal Police is less communal that they still chose to vote Prashant instead of Emon who is a local boy from Kolkata, and a Bengali.
Have a good day. I am sorry if I hurt you in any manner.

why nepali people are goin crazy for an indian dude?
even if he looks like nepali and speak nepali he is indian. what ever he will do, he does it for India not for Nepal.
here people are collecting money for India. thats amazing. why don't you collect that money for those people who lost their belongin cuz of floods. there are lots of needy in Nepal than in India.
Use your money for your Country.

Thanks,
Jai Nepal :-)

Kathmandu, Sep 10 (IANS) Transformed almost overnight from an obscure policeman to the latest icon of the Nepali-speaking diaspora, thanks to Sony TV's reality singing contest, "Indian Idol" finalist Prashant Tamang now has offers of playback singing pouring in from Nepal.

The young man from Darjeeling, who won the hearts of the Nepali diaspora by making it to the final round of the popular show despite no formal training in music, could make his playback singing debut in a Hindi film to be made by a Nepali director trying to find a foothold in Bollywood.

Narayan Puri, who begins shooting in Goa's Alibag island in November for his debut Hindi film "Gum", will have Prashant lending his voice for the male lead, to be played by "Nache Baliye" host Sabbir - provided Prashant's contract with Sony doesn't come in the way.

The link between Puri and Prashant was forged by Indian Assistant Commissioner of Police Lalit Dutraj who, like Prashant, is of Nepali origin.

In July, Puri was invited to screen his latest Nepali film, made on the Maoist movement, in Mumbai at a programme organised by Dutraj, the director told IANS.

"Two of Prashant's band members, who were campaigning for him, also attended the screening of my film 'Alpo Biram' and I was introduced to them. That's when I had the idea of asking Prashant to sing in my film."

"Gum", which has overtones of the Madonna-starrer "Swept Away", will have two songs for Prashant, with Kolkata-based musician Vishal doing the score.

However, Puri is keeping his fingers crossed. "I have made my offer and Prashant has agreed," he told IANS. "It now depends on Sony."

If Prashant goes on to win the contest, Sony will sign him up for a Rs.10 million contract. In that case, it remains to be seen if he can sing for others.

Also keeping his fingers crossed is Nepali music director Alokshree.

The music director, who likes to work with Indian talents, chose the first "Indian Idol", Abhijit Sawant, to sing in the Nepali film "Himmat".

Now that the sequel of the movie is being made, the director wants Prashant for "Himmat 2".

Alokshree is also reportedly planning a Prashant Tamang concert in Kathmandu, from where best wishes as well as funds to send SMS votes for the singer, went to strengthen his chances in the contest.

However, Kathmandu will have to wait till the grand finale of the show since till then, Prashant can't leave Mumbai.

Yet another offer, made during the "Indian Idol" show, came from one of the four judges, Bollywood's star singer Udit Narayan, who made it to India's film capital from a border town in Nepal.

Udit, who has made films in Bhojpuri, is ready to work on his new project, "Darjeeling ki Cheli, Kathmandu ko Jwain", and said his wife Deepa, has chosen Prashant to sing in the film.

The way offers and adulation are pouring in, even if Prashant doesn't win "Indian Idol", he's going to be a winner.

Puri says Prashant told him a fortnight ago that he had indeed won the contest.

"If you go by popularity, I have won," he told Puri. "If you go by talent and Amit wins, I would still think I've won because I love him like a brother."

Prashant named Brand Ambassodar Of Sikkim

Darjeeling upbeat over Prasant's success in 'Indian Idol'

Siliguri, Sept. 12 (PTI): The entire Darjeeling hill is upbeat over a possible success of Gorkha singer Prasant Tamang featuring among the last two aspirants of the 'Indian idol' television singing talent contest.

GNLF chief Subash Ghising, AIGL Chairman Madan Tamang and CPM MP Suraj Pathak have urged the hill people to send SMS in favour of the Darjeeling-born singer.

The largest circulated Nepali daily 'Himalayan Darpan' has formed a Prasant Fan Club here this week and launched a campaign for the singer who has only Amit Paul of Meghalaya to beat for the title.

Meanwhile, Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling declared Prasant as Brand Ambassador of the Himalayan state yesterday.

Run on Sony TV twice a week, the popular programme is an Indian version of British 'Pop Idol' show.

Whatever it takes to make Amit the Idol
- Night after singer crosses penultimate hurdle, Meghalaya holds prayers for ‘final success’
OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT

File picture of Amit Paul performing in his hometown, Shillong. Picture by Eastern Projections
Shillong, Sept. 9: Cheers rang out in a thunderous roar across Shillong and reverberated across the entire Northeast last night as local lad Amit Paul crossed the penultimate hurdle in one of India’s more popular music talent hunts on television.

Only Darjeeling boy Prashant Tamang now remains between Amit and the title of Indian Idol 3. So, is Meghalaya confident of seeing him through with a barrage of SMS votes and phone calls? You bet!

Today, people cut across religious lines to attend special Sunday prayers in churches across the state for Amit’s “final success”. The euphoria continued throughout the day and conversations in every household and at each street-corner adda revolved around only one thing: Amit.

Who would have imagined that the boy next door would become such a household name in so short a time? Who would believe that he would keep the whole of Shillong awake every Friday night until Saturday morning to vote for him?

Week after week, people of all ages — and from all communities — have been punching their mobile phones to vote “AMIT” at 52525.

On Friday, Amit sang two numbers, the Kishore Kumar classic Kora kagaz hain ye man mera and the peppy Sonu Nigam number Yeh dil. As usual, the judges were effusive and the audience insisted on an encore.

But since votes decide who wins in this contest, merit very often gets voted out — like the hugely talented Emon Chatterjee of Bengal was last night.

For Amit, votes have not been a problem so far. Every Friday, PCOs “sponsored” by political leaders and organisations remain open through the night to enable people to vote for him. When Amit visited Shillong on August 31 after five months in Mumbai, it was the homecoming of a hero. His arrival seemed to bridge the divide between tribals and non-tribals, leading the government to anoint him Meghalaya’s ambassador of peace, communal harmony and excellence.

Coming from a humble background, Amit has always preferred music to studies. He started off as a singer with a band that performs at small functions. When he realised that singing in Shillong would not take him far, Amit shifted base to Guwahati.

Acquaintances say he sold his music system to finance his trip to Calcutta and then Mumbai to audition for Indian Idol. Voted out once, he came back through a wild card and has not looked back since. His flawless, mellifluous rendition of songs is the result of constant riyaz, deep breathing exercises and the single-mindedness of a nun in prayer.

Ask the legions of fans who see in him a reflection of their own aspirations and they will tell you that winning is Amit’s thoh shun (destiny).
