Hey guys just want to create one thread and will update only in this thread rather than creating multiple threads. Please post your ideas also.. Let's share some ideas. Thanks. Here's mine for now:

New Trade***** ALERT:::*****
(1) Bought VTUS (small risky position)... VTUS will be releasing data of its phase 3 clinical trial in few weeks (but could come anytime--risky).

This is a risky trade holding through this kind of binary event is very risky. If phase 3 data is good my target is $5-$6
If phase 3 data fails this will plunge to $1 range....I am expecting positive data based on their previous study but you never know. Also, Shabby management bought some shares of VTUS today...All the signs pointing this will have a positive data. I am only risking some money. But i wouldn't suggest anyone who's not willing to risk -50% of money if p3 data fails.

(2) *** Bought some INS*** profitable company i believe will see some upward momentum if traders catch it...... Small position... If i see some pop i will be out though..Not holding too long..This is a low float so don't chase.

(3) I still hold *** ISR ** from my entry of $0.52 yesterday.. Might sell if i get few % gain tomorrow. I am still at profit though.

So far this month i have flipped AMBS penny stock 2 times
(a) $0.052 to $0.072                      +38% gain
(b) $0.0649 to $0.0735 (today)    + 13%

CBMX flipped it from entry of $2.23 out at $3 range     +35%

will update more later:

newbie,
Some books to start with:
How I made 2 millions by Nicolas Darvas
Its more for the feeling that gives a main street guy courage to dream of making money in market. Try to understand box theory on it....it is loosely translated to support and resistance theory these days.

Secrets for Profiting in Bull and Bear markets by Stan weinstein
and
How to make money in Stocks by William O'Neal
These books gives u idea to approach stocks and markets. How to select stocks and decide buying and selling points. O'Neal book has a formula of 7 letters. Ignore that. Charts patterns r important.
To understand charts,
read John Murphy's Technical analysis book
John Murphy's Intermarket analysis book is must if u want to be in the game for long run.
Buy them and don't borrow from libarary. You r not Einstein and not gonna remember all the things u need to.
keep watching the markets and news. Most of the news r bullshit anyway but until u figure that out for urself , keep reading cnbc and yahoo finance.
That's good enough to start with....be curious and keep asking the right questions.

Kanchi, I am not interested in individual stocks at this market level. For, long term holding, risk/reward ratio is not skewed on my favor. BTW, if u r itching to jump on market,FB is lot more exciting than BA for longer term.
Urban khasi,
Put little more time into readings, u will understand the lingos.
Moja,
I would love if market crashes here, but it most probably wont. You know how rare black swans are !!! I am not done shorting futures intraday and shorting some G10 currencies overnight. If market wants to play the range before up and down move, I am thinking ways to express it in my trades. No long term and No HOPE strategy.
Good Luck Folks

@newbie , I personally have no idea on what books to read on technicals but I highly recommend stockcharts.com , and of course the almighty google and just look at charts and figure out for yourself if those technical indicators make sense to you
and I agree with kanchi_on_ws about trading/investing in a virtual trading account first to get the feel of it ...then only put real money in it
@khairey, your BAC long really sent chills down my spine with markets getting ready to drop
you sure can trade VIX and UVXY just like any other stock, I personally like to go for GLD if I am betting against the market , Refer to my post in another Investing in Gold thread right around december and look at the chart ( update the chart two show around 2 years of data )
Gold bounced right off that support in July (1180-1200)
JCP yes definitely on the watchlish
If you may have noticed I had HGG and ARO on my list for the bounce, I traded HGG (small profits ) but definitely on the watchlist, Retail stocks are getting hammered and approaching highly oversold territories (RSI is at 22.68), I dont know about the long term but it will definitely bounce as shorts have to cover too. The only downside to buying oversold stocks is that there is a chance they might spend more than required time in the oversold territory and price may go lower ( which is not usually the case but still there has to be tight stops to consider ). Buy signals to me would be RSI curling up, MACD histograms curling up and an increase in buy volume(black volume bars as opposed to red volume bars ) and just a suggestion if you are going to start a position buy in pieces ..first a starter position, then if the stock does what you expected it to do buy some more and ride it up.

Seasonality is also an important factor to consider.

The key IMO in investing/trading would be to focus on consistent but small gains rather than binary trades and big/gains losses.

Technicals would not really work for pennystocks because those can be manipulated with someone who has a little bit of money and shape the charts to their delight and pump it and dump it but for other stocks with daily volume over 500000 , manipulation would be a hard thing to achieve.

Anyways looks like markets gapped down, SPY tried a couple of times to get to 1760 but strong resistance there and 1740 is still a level to test for support.

it does look like if we close below Monday's LOD, we r heading towards 1707-10.
Red all over the board looks so beautiful.
Lets see the job numbers tomorrow. if we hit 6.5% of jobless rate tomorrow, how market gonna react? and if black widows do something in Winter Olympics, then??? be careful folks.

Not even half of the people out of stock market back in 2008/2009 have not yet returned. And money flowing from emerging markets to US they finally seeing recovery is getting strong. Where would they put all those money? They are just pulling the market to make a better entry point. And weather to blame too. But yes, any bad news will be a catalyst for the bears. I think this would be just short lived though as the same group will pump it up soon.

By the way do you guys listen to npr's marketplace. They are the only or rare unbiased one. The stock tanked immediately day after they said laws of physics (something that goes up should come down) will soon appy to stock market. Long ago some prof said US in no ways can avoid rise in inflation that is shifting from China to US. With federal pumping, strong earnings for several quarters, min wage rising etc, its turn for market to shift towards inflation.
How you guys suggest holding stocks to benefit from inflation rising. My simple mind says high inflation will result higher earnings and rise in stocks as it devaluates the money. But if it goes much higher beyond out of control, things would crash again. You guys must have some better thoughts on this.

One thing, in coming years if there will be so much concern about US inflation among international community, then crypto currencies will have another big chances at least in the market.

Guys any penny stock that you guys think for long term? I have heard about penny stocks making more than 2000%age in less than a year. Thought of putting some money into it and forget about it for a while until the sale triggers with multiple thousand %age gain. There must be few very very high risk but very very very very high rewards incase something happen that it is waiting for, mostly in Pharmaceuticals.
Btw, I had one and invested few hundred dollars into that, the total mkt value now on my portfolio is 0.06$..lol. The company does not even exist now but somehow still on my portfolio.
Btw, are there any such stocks that were in your watch once that have gained 1000s of percentage in few days or months?

I see weakness creeping into market again. Its prudent not to buy or add into longs here. Nothing wrong with taking half-positions out of market. Time for me to leave overnight shorts !!!!
Good Luck guys!!!!

Pre-market weakness is bought out in first 2-hours...overnight weakness is converted to strength by the day. Long futures, short yen until i am proved wrong again !!!!
