A/X, thanks for posting the link for the top 7 contestants. I watched it cool n calm and I sincerley felt that Prashant stood out the most among all those contestants in that audition clips put together. I do understand that he hasn't been singing upto the mark these days , except for maybe one or two gala rounds...and I used to think that even though people might vote for him, and even if he wins, he mightnot be the desired winner. But after watching those audition clips posted by A/X, I can see that Amit paul sang nowhere as good as he does today and even Emon sang like a parrot( he always sounds like one to me)....the rest were ok...so I now think that given that Prashant puts in his sincere effort and concentrates on his singing, he can be the DESIRED winner. He still has abt 6 more galas to perform and if he sings phenomenonal he can woo everybody's heart and touch their soul. It would be good to see him win....all the best Prashant.....
At this point of the competition, the most important thing for a competitor to be the champ is vote. Vote decides who wins. Who sings the best? to hell with it.
Last year, Karunya was far better than Sandeep (I thought so, read/heard the same -- but people are free to differ). Who won? He who got the most votes. Remember the incident, last year, when all the judges walked out of the stage in protest of a better singer Amay being voted out in favor of Anuj?
Prashanta may sing better or worse than others but as long as he gets more votes than the one who gets the least -- he stays.
I am not really worried whether Prashant is Nepali -- Indian, or Indian of Nepali origin. He is whatever he says/feels he is. I leave at that. But somehow I want him to win not only because his mother toungue is Nepali but I want to see a so called "bahadur" or "chowkidar Gorkha" becomes the idol or as they call "the bhaarata ki shaan" of over 1 Billion bharatiya. I want their Bharat ki shaan ko come to Dharan and sing some Nepali songs --- when Indian media stations look for "their" idol, I want them to find him singing some Gopal Yonjan songs in Butwal entertaining Nepali crowds.
When I was in darjeeling, I felt (just my perception) that most people in Darjeeling and sorrounding hill areas have warm regards for Nepal, and Nepalitwa. Now, what is Nepalitwa? it can be fluid in definition and perhaps words are not capable enough to define for the concept is abstract and can only be felt. I saw king birendra's picture in peoples' houses, and in business establishments. I could hear Radio Nepal widely being played there. The only issue people were not happy with Nepal was on its (Nepal's) no position on Gorkhaland or for Gorkhas.
India used to fuel LTTE in Srilanka for separate nation but when Gorkas asked for just a state within Indian Union they were called separatists/terrorists. India had no problem in having Jharkhand -- Chhattisgarh -- Uttaranchal --even Mijoram but could not have Gorkhaland. Why? This question is significant to me.
Perhaps Gorkhas (based on their popolation ratio) have sacrified their lives more than the people in jharkhand, chhattisgarh, uttaranchal, or mijoram in defending India but what they get in return from the nation they serve?
I think Prashant's victory will be a symbolic one for Gorkha people in India, if not anything else.
I want Prashant to win -- but since I can't vote I hope people vote for him.
